Every day, man. Come on...

I am sick and tired of games being interrupted and /or games listed as lost just because chess.com can't keep their server running.  This is twice today and almost every week.  I pay a premium membership and am getting poor service.  Maybe I should try a different online site

Has any official chess.com representative spoken out about the recent bugs and server errors?

I think its starting to last too long for them not to say something.

Here's the main thing and my understanding is the site is still experiencing periods of extremely high loads and continue working on optimizations and capacity increases to alleviate issues.

However, those things take time to get identified, solutions created and tested, and ultimately put in production. They continue working on things.

Lichess is free and works perfectly. This costs over 100 € per year and 502 server several times a day (between games which then are lost, of course). Very frustrating.

At least they should get rid of those stupid videos with Danny Rensch fiddling around with wires and stuff. The is obviously beyond Danny's expertise. Call the Geek Squad.wink

I was clearly winning when the server went down 2 times today.  It shows that I abandoned the games. The server abandoned the games!! I lost 16 points.  Get your shot together or I will quit this site.

Maybe you should. There's one site you can try and it is completely free (as in free speech, free lunch and, most importantly, free of bugs). You know what I am talking about. The only reason I came back here (I had already left chess.com before) is that it is difficult to get daily games on that other site that shall not be named (well, you can get daily games there, but more than half of them end up in timeouts at my level). But if you do not play dailies, there's really no reason not to switch sites.

Well so far I've seen nothing optimized, just a lot of crashing and lag.

In my experience, chess.com will try to pretend that nothing's happening (letting moderators of these forums take all the heat) until it is simply impossible to ignore the outcry. Then they will issue some sort of statement. I don't remember once when they proactively came out and said that there's an issue you may begin to experience because of <insert the reason here>, which they are working to resolve and apologize for.

It is all about PR and nothing about transparency and integrity. Not to mention simple professionalism when it comes to communicating with their paying customers.

That type of work takes time and multiple areas need changes. During the pandemic and Queen's Gambit spike of traffic, the site had some issues and was able to work through that. I expect they'll be able to get things working well with the increased load and be poised for even more growth

I don't think they were expecting this kind of influx of people to stay, but we did. And now they need more servers.

More servers is only part of the story and being done. happy

Is there any official statement of Chess.com? The last few days are absolutely ridiculous, I see the 502 more often than my home screen.

The first step with any problem is acknowledging that you have a problem. Alas, naked ambition and lust for global domination is a blinding defect.

I'm only aware of the Tweet linked earlier (and screenshot)

Now I'm getting both server error 502 and 500. At least that provides some variety, lol...

I have renewed my Playchess membership, but is is difficult to get a game there at the times of day that I am most available. Maybe I should up my monthly contribution to the free site.
