Chess.com bought chess24. Players migrated to new site, traffic got too high and no one was ready for it.

Come on guys, fix the issue. I'd understand and be patient if the service was free, but it's not acceptable for paying users...

This is pretty funny. There must be so many people trying to get into this thread to post their complaints about all the '502' errors, it's overloaded, so you get even more '502' errors. Took me about a dozen tries to get into this thing.

I've lost 3 games this week where I was winning due to this unreliable server.  I am paying for this????

I just cancelled my membership.  If chess.com loses $$$, maybe they'll get their act together.

@jarrs123 is there a way to cancel a membership and get your money back if you paid in front for a year?

Lack of preparation for a predictable occurrence is a consequence of poor management.

Greed is blinding.

yaa nowadays traffic is huge

This is an issue that happened because Chess.com bought Chess24, and took all of its users with it, and now the servers are overloaded.

That isn't the reason. Currently the sites are completely separate.

I don't believe there was any expectation of major traffic increases, at least not at the level being seen now. Also, there haven't been any migrations yet due to the acquisition, unless players moved on their own.

Of course the players moved on their own. Think about it, first they're chess players, so they think moves ahead. Second, their site was just acquired by another chess site. So what is the optimal move? To move over to the other site.

I'm sure some did. However, for a player that may like Chess24 better, they may wait to see what the plans actually are first and as far as I'm aware, nothing has been communicated about that.

It's also very unlikely that enough have moved to make up a bulk of the new traffic.

It's silly to assume people would switch from chess24 en masse just because someone signed some business papers in a boardroom somewhere.

They'd be attached to the look and layout of the site, the community, to their ratings, their account, etc.
