I was having a nice, relaxing game of rapid chess on my desktop, and picked up my phone to check Twitter or whatever. I had earlier had the chess.com app open, on a separate, daily game, so that came up. The app immediately disconnected me from the desktop game, and opened up the live game on my phone. This is very annoying! I have never played live chess on my phone, and I don't much like it.
I closed the app on my phone. It then gave me a notification saying that it would automatically disconnect me after 30 seconds, which is 30 lost seconds, but OK - I hoped it meant that it would switch back to the desktop, but nothing happened after that time. I couldn't find an option on the desktop to switch back. So I had to to continue on the phone.
Naturally I blundered soon after, which I am going to blame on this distraction.
I can imagine there are some very limited circumstances where I would want to switch devices mid-game. If my house caught fire, perhaps? But it is crazy that it does it automatically, without even asking the player what they want to do. Please change it so that it only switches if the player actively asks to do it - or just turn the switching feature off.
