The issue is that you've added an "undo" feature that can't be turned off. Asking an opponent to undo their last move is not a feature of the game of chess. Why is a feature of bot chess? Hello! The Undo button should only be available when you have the option Takebacks allowed.
- If you'd like not to have this option, you can play in Challenge mode, or you can also select Custom, and then toggle OFF the option Takebacks. 🙂
Would you mind giving it a try?
I tried this last week and it did not work as you state above, but it seems to work that way now. I have always had that setting off, but glad it seems to be working now.

I don’t understand the reason for creating an entirely new “undo” button when the back/forward buttons worked just fine for playing custom games with takeback enabled.
It is also a million times easier to just tap “back” a bunch of times to review recent moves — like in *every other game* — rather than trying to do the same thing by tapping around the moves list, which is awkward on mobile and doesn’t show the movement animations like the back/forward buttons do.
I’m really struggling to see *any* benefit to this change. Playing a bot in custom mode with takebacks enabled should be identical to challenge mode … except you have the choice to play forward from one of those older positions. That’s how it used to be and it seemed to work fine for everyone.
The “undo” button adds absolutely nothing and only makes it more frustrating if I’m trying to play around with different strategies in custom mode.
Seriously, this should be a no-brainer: just revert to the previous back/forward buttons and ditch “undo” entirely.

Please bring the redo button back. It's much harder to learn and analyze the game without it. On web, I only have the 'undo' button which undoes both white and black's last move, and no option to redo the moves to reset after undoing. This is a terrible change.
You can still use redo by navigating with the keyboard arrows! Hope this helps.
