i found this by searching for the function that doesnt exist.

I and others think you should put this in, also maybe even more advanced controls like banning people from bad IPs or things that drop connection too much. you do discriminate as a platform yourselves against russians and belarusians. you cant have a ban on discrimination and then discriminate. plus this is an american company that is banning russia on principle for aggression and rightly so - but america is actually helping the russians. for this reason i might want to ban americans for example for me personally, if it were possible i would ban USA, russia, iran, bad connections from places like kenya and iraq who dont even speak my language anyway if we were to chat.  i dont see the problem with this, its not that i hate everyone from any of these countries except maybe america lol. just kidding. like kenya and iran for example are beautiful places so rich in music and culture but generally have bad internet which drops. with 650,000,000 games a day, i dont see how anyone would miss out.  i might want to block for other reasons other than i "discriminate" - ie similar to your own reasons that you discriminate yourselves.

as a european i just want to play europeans mostly. just my preference, sorry for having it!  i would also be quite happy with just "euro games" or games by area like this instead of specific countries as such.

i note the post is locked and marked as "discriminatory" with the obligatory faux shock and horror from people, but geo-banning is a reality of running web servers.

ive only been a member for a few days but one other thing that really sticks out after reading the about page is why 650 employees? this is insane! seems like you could trim that right down, and the analysis is straight out of 10 years ago. AI can do MUCH more in depth analysis, this thing cant even tell what your tactics are, marking things that won you the game as missed blunders and stuff. i was really surprised by how bad it was. you should have much better analysis than this. a simple GPT analysis would be better. you should also be able to ask it questions obviously. i dont understand why this isnt done already.

good luck anyway its been an interesting diversion. free palestine, no hate.

If you just want to play mostly Europeans then you should be playing offline in a chess club. Online chess clearly appears to be too much for you.

american ad hominem in 30 seconds! some disabled people cant walk or go to chess clubs. i dont know if that is too much for you to understand but think before you post.

Idts, for instance ChatGPT keeps making illegal moves if you attempt to play against it lol, it's not designed to be a chess engine and wouldn't be efficient
Anyway this forum's gonna get locked and rightfully so

It wasn't 'ad hominem' at all, because restricting countries for whatsoever reasons you named is unfair.
And no offense but after making this forum, telling me to think before I post seems ironic.

#5 Lol yea it's gonna get locked anyway no point of arguing with OP

it was thinly veiled ad hominem calling me simple because i am disabled. thats as discriminatory as you can get. what you are saying is get offline because i am disabled. never imagined so much hate so quickly

its not an argument its an ad hominem attack because they didnt like what i wrote. i run web servers. geo banning is real - get over it.

wrong. some chess AI model should get very good results in analysing. asking it to make moves as you play is completely different to analysing the finished play as well. sure there are plenty of decent models out there that can do better than this. perhaps there are even purpose made chess models and programs already made and someone thought of the idea before

Avatar of Shanayaaa18

Could be then, not sure though

Avatar of faded-out-of-this-life

well i am sure because i programmed stuff for 40 years. no more messages from people not engaging or not having the knowledge to engage with substance thanks. i was writing to the programmers not random people who dont know anything about the subject

Avatar of Shanayaaa18

My message wasn't even offensive to you, I didn't say you're wrong or anything
Pity even the word 'maybe' can offend you, and I'm sorry but this is a chess site, not a site of programmers
If you can't handle people's opinions then don't make forums
Anyway have a lovely day, in before the lock lmao

and this mocking - theres no difference with this to just outright insulting me. same as "have a nice day" before a lock on a forum i couldnt care less about. you are going to "LMAO" when the post is locked because it will ruin my day right ? thats the subtext here. i mean this is all just deeply nasty hateful stuff from chess.com. never again will i post a suggestion. CLEARLY my mistake.

Bruh, what is this rage bait
I have a habit of using 'lol' and 'lmao' like many people do, and I say 'Have a lovely day' to literally everyone after a conversation
It's not that deep

Thank you for sharing your feedback and suggestions—it’s clear you’re passionate about chess and want a better experience on platforms like Chess.com.

Regarding geo-blocking or region preferences: Chess.com has a strict policy against discrimination based on nationality, country of residence, or similar factors. Requests to block entire countries or regions are consistently viewed as discriminatory and are not supported. Threads suggesting this are often locked for that reason. While connection quality issues (like lag from certain areas) are frustrating, especially in time-sensitive games, the platform prioritizes inclusivity and doesn’t allow user-level country bans. They do comply with legal sanctions (., payment restrictions in some countries), but that’s different from user-requested discrimination. An alternative like “European-only” matchmaking or broader regional queues has been suggested by others, but it’s not currently available—perhaps worth posting as a feature request in their feedback section.

On the number of employees: Chess.com lists over 650 staff on their about page, supporting a massive global operation (hundreds of millions of games daily, events, content, anti-cheat systems, etc.). It’s a fully remote team across many countries, which helps scale the platform.

About game analysis: Many players share your frustration—the standard engine analysis can sometimes mislabel moves (., marking good moves as inaccuracies or missing deeper tactics). It’s not perfect, and there are ongoing complaints about its depth and accuracy compared to newer tools. Chess.com is continually improving their AI and analysis features, including more advanced options for premium users. Integrating conversational AI (like GPT-style explanations or questioning) is an interesting idea and something they’re likely exploring, as chess tech evolves rapidly.

It’s great you’ve enjoyed it as a diversion—hope you stick around or find what works best for you. Chess brings people together from everywhere, even if connections aren’t always ideal. Good luck with your games!

yeah i thought i was* posting a suggestion but apparently i was posting to become a target of hate, i was just trying to distract myself from ending my life, but maybe i should just go ahead.
i must strongly disagree about this policy and what it has to do with what im saying - discrimination in life is different from geo-banning - otherwise huge portions of the internet would be down with racism claims. chess.com DOES NOT have a strict policy about discrimination if it lets itself off that policy, that would just be a hypocritical rule. you cant ban russia and say you dont ban by country. well you can i suppose but nobody will believe you! thankyou for being very nice. i already paid for it, i didnt see any more complex analysis. i was thinking of loading games into something else to ask questions about them. what are the pivotal points, what did i do wrong, whats the name of that opening. etc etc. im sure a rudimentary search would come up with something a lot better. there must be some ollama models that people have trained on this already. or some super chess program etc.
like i say i am disabled. i cant take this amount of communication. please stop.
