Bot Bug

I was muted yesterday. I did not know why. I contacted support and learned it was a bot mute based on alleged profanity (a three letter work referring to either one's posterior or to a donkey). The support admin cited two sentences as examples. One, I wrote many months ago and was not allowed to post it. I was warned at the time. The other is still on the site in a post that I was responding to (and foolishly quoting).

The bot needs a tune up.

As you say, you can get it for quoting someone's post. Once you reach a certain number (even if it happened months ago) you get muted.

I've had a few undeserved mutes like this. I'm currently on over 6 red banners, so I'm waiting for the next mute... it's inevitable.

chess.com  is the only website in the world that labels "a** and pu**y" as profanities and mutes it's users.

It's even worse than that because you can't predict it.

You can say porn but not b**b.

You can't even replace the *s above with 0s.

You can say rectum but not an-us.

It would be nice if the site would provide a list of banned terms.

The post I quoted still contains the offensive language: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/flaggers?page=9#comment-65871169

One guy was talking about porn, and I reported it. Apparently he was warned, but the post was never edited. It's ridiculous.

I private messaged a mod, reminding them that there are a lot of young children on the site, and finally after some work on my part, the post was removed.

As for a fix, I'd like it to be a rolling window (or whatever they call it). If I've had 5 red banners in the last 30 days, ok, mute me. But if I had a few warnings 10 months ago, don't count that against me, particularly because you can be warned for text in a quote that you didn't write.

I got zapped once for using the Latin-derived word that means like a donkey. So, you really can't guess about these things.

Over 6 red banners? - I'm truly gutted...😟

Missing out so many times when Llama is on his A game with his wit and sarcasm, really sucks man. 😫

Especially when he's had a few. 🍻🍺🍷🦙🥴

I haven't had a drink in... 4 months? It's kind of fun that I can't remember exactly. Finding healthier ways to deal with things lately 💪

Just got a warning when I was quoting a post with the word in question.

Others are allowed to use the term, but if I even quote them, I risk my ability to interact on this site. That the word is both mild and common (such that I can easily quote a post containing it without noticing the potential problem) aggravates the problem.

Please fix the bots so the word never appears in the forums. Alternately, retire the bots.

And another poster is able to use the banned word twice in one post, even using it as a label for his adversary. I suppose clubs are exempt.
