Brilliant moves aren't all that brilliant

I get what your saying if your a good chess player may I have some advice on chess like find out opponents plans and what plans should you make

@diamondsalamander I am not a good chess player. In college I was around 1400 in classical play but quit and have just come out of "retirement." If you are serious about the pursuit, I recommend going the Dan Heisman club and adding whomever seems to be an active member. These are not casual, anecdotal screwballs.

1400 eilo is still better then 85% of all players.

I don't understand the algorithm at all. For example, you showed in your screenshots that some pretty normal moves are "Brilliant", yet I've never gotten a Brilliant Move in my 3 years of playing chess, no matter how good of a move I make. Before you ask, my elo is around 300 (at the time of writing this), so the algorithm should go easy on me. I literally have no idea what it expects from me...

Brilliants are moves that sacrifice material and are good or best. I only have 0.1 % of my moves in blitz and 0.2% in rapid that were considered brilliant. That level is not uncommon, so they are fairly rare
