Hi all,

I just have bought a Millennium King Performance board and the chesslink module. When I try to play a new game with the optipn "Use connected board" checked I get the error " The pieces are place incorrectly. Look at the desk"

If I had a chesslink, which I don't, with this problem I would try the following

  1. Verify it is not a hardware issue.  Make sure chesslink works properly with other chesslink apps and/or sites.
  2. Delete then reinstall the chess.com android app in case there was an update to the interface.
  3. If possible, try using with a different android device -- like an inexpensive kindle (will require installing the google play store on the kindle).
  4. Verify that it happens whether I was assigned either white or black so it is not  something as simple as it  thinking the white pieces are where the black ones should be.

good luck

Hi,

I have completely same situation - also KP+CL. Same errors. Pieces and sides are in order (re-checked multiple times).

Will check with Lichess, and will update board soft. Will keep you updated.
if this will not help - guess me and ivanacm7 will have to write to Millenum support …

Hi,

Update №1: Nope, Lichess also does not work with the board. ChesLinkApp shows that all is connected (board & Lichess), but game happens on the mobile phone. The board just shows same menu as before. Tried few different options - starting new game while in "New" menu on the board, while in "Classic" game menu on the board, while in "2 players" menu on the board - still nothing. And one more thing - on the mobile phone, in the ChessLinkApp, each piece is surrounded by a red circle (whatever that means). Nothing like that was on Millennium help videos ...

I've ordered USB-B cable - waiting for delivery, will try with the software update ...

Could it have something to do with android app permissions?  Otherwise making sure the KP and CL firmware is the latest version sounds like the correct next step.

Are you using the Millennium app for Chesslink? If so, there is a step it's easy to overlook. After you start a game on the app, even when it looks like you have the game sert up and see the board, you have to go back to select the Chesslink and click on it to be sure it syncs with the board. I had a non responsive board until I did this. Hope it helps.

Hi all

I have solved the problem!

Now the board is working perfect with both apps, Lichess and Chess.com.

You have to enable the "expert" mode in the board. Once you have enabled it  you will see new options in the menu, one of this options is Chess Link mode, enable it and you will see a liitle chess board in the King Performance screen (instead of the face for user game).

Then you can open chess.com or lichess and play new games directly in the board. Only one thing, Lichess allow play against the computer withbthe board but chess.com only allow play with other users.

I could not make it works with Chess.com robots, I think this option is not still available.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much.

Gorelikovs

Hi,

Yep, ExpertMode made it all work. Thank you ivanacm7 !

Millenium, if you are reading this - please update a bit your help guides. Thank you.

Just one thing which keeps KP+CL+ChessCom from being perfect, is the need to rotate the board if random gives me to play for black … swapping sides in board menu does not help with this one …

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the color your assigned with chess.com when using the Millennium board? Since you can't choose your color before the start of the game how do you get your board set up in time so your opponent doesn't leave? Are folks quickly switching pieces, or spinning the board around? Perhaps there is a simple solution I'm missing. Thank you in advance!

For Millennium I am using the phone 100% of the time, Hiarcs Chess app, give you a lot of options,  a lot of more than the Millennium engine, and not problems at all, by the way, I received an email about a new chess computer set called "Square Off Pro", this electronic board connect with the Cellular & iPad and can connect with chess.com !!!...I wonder why Millennium cannot solve the connection issues with chess.com if others made it.

I just rotate the board but I play 30 min games only so I have plenty of time grin.png. I don't think playing blitz with board is practical...

Daniel_1960

you are connecting with Android device right?

Hi everyone. So if I understood correctly (which I'm not sure), to be able to use the Millemium King Performance, I have to buy chesslink for around 100€ so with the board at around 400€. Am I correct? I found this a little expensive because the square off Kingdom set is a little less expensive in that case...

Or maybe is there another way of playing with a connected board on chess.com (for around 400€)?

Maybe I'm missing something (I must admit I'm I'm little lost...).

Thx a lot for your help amd sorry for my English it's not my primary language.

As far as Millennium, a possible option for you when it releases is the eOne  with bluetooth and battery built in for online chess (no built in computer) for 200€  though it is of the small plastic type of board.  It looks like the competitor for the DGT Pegasus at a similar price point. The wood board options from Millennium are, as you see, much more expensive.

Hi all!

I would like to share my  Wireless Homemade Cabinet for the Millenium Exclusive board.

I made it as slim as I could so there is no space for storage pieces, also the Chesslink Modem was disassembled and mounted on a little plastic box following this principles.

If you want to make it you need.

-   External Battery (for example those used to recharge phones, mine has 5 V / 1-2 A Output)

-   DC Power converter for raising Volts to 9v wich is what Chesslink needs. ( https://www.amazon.es/Convertidor-Elevador-Enrutador-Transformador-Regulador/dp/B09MZ6VSSQ/ref=sr_1_15?__mk_es_ES=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=2R1BQBVXG9VCN&keywords=elevador+voltaje+usb&qid=1641742489&sprefix=elevador+voltaje+usb%2Caps%2C226&sr=8-15)

-   MICRO USB Male-Female cable for charging battery from outside the board (connector depending on battery). Mine is micro USB  B Male Female with screws to fix on the side.

-   USB B Male-Female cable with screws to fix on the side connected to the chesslink modem.

-   External switch to turn on/off Power.

-   I also needed a Male-Female USB A cable between battery and DC booster to connect the switch because it was impossible to cut the circuit between Booster and modem for unexpected technical issues. (When modem was turned off the booster also turned off a minute later when it detects there is nothing to supply energy, then it doesn´t turn on even if I turned on the modem)

You must make a hole under the Millenium Board to pass the PS2 cable under it, so no cable is hanging out like in the "Luxe Cabinet".

The woodcraft is up to you. I used a 40x40x5mm woodboard for the base and four boards 37,7x2,3mm for the sides. The sides are are lined in black velvet.

This looks great Hermanitoll, nice work!

I didn't understand how you connected the ps2 cable to the board, where did you drill the hole? I can only see what looks like the hole of the original PS2 outlet on the side of the board.

HermanitoII

As you can see the board is upside down. If you zoom you will see the hole in the board. The PS2 connector is hiding most of if, sorry for the bad perspective here is a new photo.

Valdecarus

ahh, I see, thanks, nice idea, very smart. I have a deluxe variant and this looks more compact and neater.

Sorry for asking but is this something related to your profession, I would never dare drilling holes in my board and also figure out how to wire all this stuff...

HermanitoII

Nope, my profession has nothing to do with woodcrafting or electronics but it is fun learning different things away from daily work.

Valdecarus

Well, if you learned this just for fun, than learning a new opening is nothing for you LOL

Friends, be very careful with the cheap voltage converters. If there is a malfunction and more than 9V goes out, then you can damage the expensive ChessLink. I suggest buying a more reliable DC to DC voltage converter. There are ones I use called DROK. You need to figure out if you want to BOOST (increase) or BUCK (decrease) the voltage to 9V.
