Colloquialisms in private messages (swearing)

So I just wrote out a very lengthy message to a friend of mine using the messaging platform. Took me at least half an hour to write (maybe more). When I clicked send I was informed that the message did not send and the text in the box was deleted because the message I made did not conform to community guidelines.

For reference, I was trying to console my friend by mentioned that something "sucked butt" but I didn't say the word butt I said a very similar word beginning with the letter "A" that can also be used to describe a relation of the donkey or mule....

I think this is a little pedenatic:

  1. The world isn't over because someone says a "no-no" word.
  2. Its a private message.
  3. Kids have chesskid.com
  4. Swear words aren't real, they are a state of mind (sounds crazy but seriously... what exactly is a swear word?)
  5. The former president had more offensive behaviour even when he was not using "curse words" such as in his descriptions of women or anyone who wasn't white...

I can get some of the formalities associated with it but I think we should let up a little, this is a bit much...

Here is the definition for a swear word by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary: "a profane or obscene oath or word" not sure if you were literally asking for a definition though lol

Seriously though, expletives are a complete waste of time and an unecessary custom we adhere to for absolutely no good reason whatsoever.

If you are worried about your kids learning that freedom of speech is a good thing and you would rather they get used to being silenced in the face of authority, perhaps you should also be concerned of the role models they are given by government officials, toxic masculinity and those magazines they give to little girls encouraging them to wear make up.

Apologies, but this riles me up beyond belief >:I

That is crazy. I don't know why chess.com feels like they need to block that considering people swear all the time in real life. A** isn't really that bad of a word, the only curse words I see as bad is the f and n word. And considering that it's a private message makes it even more dumb so I totally agree with what you are saying. Chess.com needs to realize this problem

Hey Adam, sorry, I'm on a bit of a tirade, the idea of "naughty" words just bothers me because they literally don't do anything. I spent ages on that email and had it deleted because I used slang terminology to refer to an annoying situation. Is the tongue of the common man to be deemed inferior to that of those who have enslaved humanity through their systems of elite control through monetization? >:0 Resist comrades >:0

thanks angelo,

I have opinions on the  f anf n word as well (i mean I'm very liberal). I don't think it's the words themselves that make them bad but the context in which they are said. I also hold the opinion that the idea that people should be allowed or not allowed to say any word based on skin colour is to set up the idea that there should be different social rules for people based on race/skin colour and therefore allows the excuse for people to be treated differently because of it.

Of course, the mistreatment of black people, especially in the states, is waaay worse than the idea of white people not being allowed to drop n-bombs so that is clearly the bigger priority. I just think that both are unacceptable, one props up the other we should stand together as a people against things that divide us because when we are divided we are controlled and this goes against all our interests whatever we look like.

I don't believe in black power, I don't believe in white power, I believe in people power to speak truth to power.

In case you were wondering, this is one of my "liberal snowflake" triggers

A lot of the time when certain words are being used, it is meant in a offensive way. The site utilizes a fairly simple algorithm to filter things, which can prevent a lot of casual abuse. I don't see the site changing that any time soon, though it would be nice if it would at least place the content back in the edit box and allow it to be fixed instead of lost for cases like that.

I just had to block a guy because he cussed me out in Russian after I won his queen. (Google translate doesn't have the same filters!). Next time, just put your colloquialism in Cyrillic, and you should be all set. ;-)

Hey kid you need to screenshot or else cut and paste it your fault

Hey, thanks for the feedback, sorry if I caused any contention or bad feelings at all... I was just really annoyed at the time because I put a lot of effort into a message and got it entirely deleted because I said "butt". I still believe in what I believe with regards to how we (in the anglican speaking world particularly) behave with regard to language though; this set me off a bit....

Hopefully society will grow up one day and realise that a person in political power saying "yes" to affirm a bomb strike on civilians in some "third world" country is considerably more offensive than the phonetical utterances produced to show emotional consideration to one's fellow human being. It's a small point to stand for but I stand for it none-the-less... swear words are not real and the concept of it only serves to promote the idea of not speaking truth to power. One day I would like to see our global society released from these incumbersome chains fo divisive control.

(Note: I appreciate I sound like a madman but I really mean all this - language can divide us and language can set us free... it is up to each of us to decide what any of it all means).
