a seven game win streak ended because of a disconnection! Furthermore, my clock was still going while this issued presented itself! this, (smh)... is ridiculous!

I checked on this game and didn't see anything that happened on chess.com's side. It could have been an error on one of relay stations between your computer and our servers. Your connection travels through 1000s of miles of cable and sometimes issues happen
Personally, I have dealt with this a lot lately and as a result, I am switching to a new internet service provider in about a week because I can't tolerate the connection issues that they are causing.
This may not be related to everyone's problem, but I want to give my experience. I first bought a low-cost Laptop which seemed to work except I had the connection problems with chess.com. When that one started to die, I purchased a better computer but it had the same problems. I took it back and picked up another one that works on chess.com perfectly. Note these first two computers still had internet but chess.com was spotty.
It turns out my third computer (HP) has an intel wi-fi card while the previous one (Lenova) had a realtech card. The first one was an Asus and I don't know what kind of card it had in it. My point is if you have a computer with a not so good wi-fi card, chess.com may pick up a bad connection even if your internet is working.
I have problem with app. I'll play games and when I go to home screen or chess app runs in background, the app will forfeit the game randomly. So I keep losing games for no reason. It's not connection issue but app itself when runs in background. This happens 50/50 or when phone goes to sleep where screen turns off after inactivity. Pretty frustrating and my opponents I'm sure are happy to play me for that reason

If you leave the app, when playing a game, it will resign/forfeit. I don't know all the specifics, but enough people leave the app to abandon the game that the site implemented auto resignation when leaving. At least, that is my understanding of how it works.
