It's called inflation
Does chess.com have no shame?

Just got the mail that informed me about the rise and I want at least give some feedback. Even the old price I have always considered incomprehensibly high and therefore never even tried the trial (Uh not quite right, looks like I even paid a month in 2017 ... but obviously could not convince me). That you now rise the prices is completely incomprehensible, your annual price is thus, for example, MORE than twice as high as c****base, which offer no less.
And no, inflation is no explanation for rising too high prices even further.

they are also removing features such as guessing moves in games for people who don't pay
lol

....but they are giving gold members unlimited puzzles
they did that a long time ago but they got rid of unlimited analyze

Oh then I'm happy
you will have to cancel your current membership and buy the more expensive one to get the unlimited puzzles though I think

Not only are you increasing the membership price of resources that you can get elsewhere for free (if I mention them, the post will get taken down), but you are also telling people to buy it before it goes up?! Has chess.com no shame at all?
It's pretty well explained in the article: https://www.chess.com/article/view/prices-changing
The bottom section goes into the why and they site is grandfathering in rates for those with existing memberships or those that upgrade before the change.

That may be true for some purchases, but not all of them.

That's my understanding. Current plans will keep the features they have moving forward.

what

I think we have unrealistic expectations when it comes to getting services from this site. Just because all of the essential features are available at Lichess and ChessBase, either for free or for less, we aren't really taking into account how much a martini costs.
In large cities, one martini will regularly cost thirty or forty dollars. Not everywhere, but the business bro must live.
Also, if Chesscom were to stop throwing money at big names, it would draw in less big names, and all it would have left would be us. So it needs those millions of our money to give away.
*Snip* Has chess.com no shame at all?
limited time only, between December 2008 and February 2009.
Bring @shame back.

My membership expires in 2 months, perfect timing.
? If you keep your subscription, the price doesn't change.

These people are out to lunch and completely detached from the current reality most of us face. Recession, inflation, everything IMPORTANT (food etc.) much more expensive. I wonder where internet chess falls on most people's list??? LMAO. They're high on their own supply. Covid has been good for business, but raising prices during a global recession seems like a not too smart decision.
Remember, the best site is already free!
