- At the moment chess.com team matches sets the board order to the online ratings of the players in a particular time control.
- This means that people new to the chess.com platform or a particular time control are being mismatched in terms of rating strength in comparison to their opponents until they have played enough games. This is particularly true since many of the ECF games have been moved online since COVID-19 as it has brought many new players onto the platform.
- The most recent workaround for ECF county matches has been to manually setup the individual matches so that the pairings are done on ECF OTB grades rather than chess.com ratings. The drawback of this is that it is a hassle to setup the matches, and there are a number of players that are not that familiar with the platform.
- The ideal solution would be for chess.com to allow team matches the option to manually set the board orders. If an option existed to manually set or override the board order so that players could be matched according to their over the board ratings then this issue could be mitigated in a way that makes it easy to setup the matches.
