it is not 'lol'. it is awful, on two levels. first, as you write, the phone ap really sucks and has been a problem for years. second, if staff were ever around to notice someone writing hate like that, the person should be banned.

this is page ten of a topic posted in 'site feedback', and directed to staff. not a single staff member has posted. no matter what the mods write, the fact that staff is never there is telling.

If you post like that on a news article, yeah, a staff member would mute you.

Staff don't come on the forums though. It's the wild west here.

The thread should’ve been locked a while ago. Good moderation would’ve been able to stomp this out by now

Posters should have been muted/banned, but the thread itself is fine and a topic like this should be allowed. Good mods know this.

Off Topic is very lightly moderated. There's more leeway in what is allowed there and won't get locked or moderated.

Off Topic is where all the children congregate. Off Topic is where the majority of the inappropriate threads are. If this is truly a "family friendly" site, why not use basic logic and moderate the place that children will most likely be exposed to the most disgusting posts?

It does get moderated, just much more leniently. The forums, and Off Topic in particular, get a lot of replies and things will be missed.

That's why there are options to report and downvote individual posts to help moderators and staff find things that might get missed in the mass of content.

Why do accounts get banned for abuse? That account has violated TOS several times in one thread. I am no goody two shoes but I ask, when does an account cross the line.
