Glitch on mobile

Recently mobile app has been super glitchy during games.  After I make a move, a couple things might happen:

• Board layout stays the same, but suddenly all the pieces I've captured change from black to white or vice-versa, so I'm unable to move my pieces.  
• Clock on both sides stops - if I close then reopen the app, the clocks are running again (and I've lost a bunch of time).
• Opponents clock keeps ticking but they don't make a move.  Then I close the app and reopen it only to find out that their move never registered and I have lost by abandonment. 

This happens at least once in 25%-50% of my games on any given day, and often multiple times per day.  I play casually and am kinda trash so it's not a hugeeee deal, but it is annoying when you're a few moves away from mate and then lose because of one of these.  Usually playing 5 minute games, so losing 30-60 seconds per game due to closing and reopening it is putting me at a huge disadvantage to say the least. 

Anyone else running into this and have any ideas how to fix?

Which device type and app version?

Yeah, not sure where the app version is listed on iOS. On Android it's under More > Settings and all the way at the bottom.

Uninstalling and reinstalling shouldn't hurt.
