Is promotion bugged?

it's happened to me twice now: I try to promote a pawn during a problem rush and the move doesn't go through. So I click it again and it auto promotes my pawn to a bishop. I like bishops but they're no queens. 

When I try to play the problem again after I finish my rush the same bug happens again. 

I'm playing on mobile, on the web version of the site through Google Chrome. I guess I should install the app but this is still a thing. 

So when it did not go through do not click the pawn just click its promoting square, if that did not work then click the pawn.

Simular problem for me, in puzzle rated or rushed: I can only promote to bishop.

Do moderators see our comments about the workings of the site? It just happened again: puzzle rush forced promotion to bishop, not by my own will, but by force from Chess.com. As in all previous occasions, only a bishop was shown. The surface that used to show Kn, Rk or Q, was empty. Clicking the surface that used to select the Queen, gave me a bishop and the claim that I did failed the test. Very frustrating.

Tried on different pc's her in the house: problem persists.

I have submitted the issue to Member support. Awaiting their answer.

I am trying to promote to a queen in a daily tournament game. All of the icons show but when I press the queen icon it gives me a bishop automatically. If I press the knight or rook icon it still gives me a bishop. Or sometimes it gives me nothing and cancels the move.

I have contacted chess.com and am awaiting a reply but I need to make a move before I am timed out so I will have to accept a bishop and play with a handicap.

I am using the silk browser on my Amazon Fire tablet.

I've had the same exact problem for several days now. In both Puzzle Battle and Play (BETA), whenever I try to promote a pawn, I only have the option to select a Bishop. I tried to curb this with Auto-Queen to no avail; today I drew a completely winning blitz game because I could only promote to Bishop even though my settings stated that the pawn should automatically promote to Queen.

Edit: Technically I've had the problem for over a week, but originally it only manifested in Puzzle Battle/Rush. It has since spread to Play/Live within the last couple of days.

This morning I was allowed to promote to a queen. 😀  Hopefully they have fixed the glitch. It happened before I was timed out. I was determined not to promote to a bishop.

I have contacted support and they are looking into it. Refreshing the page did not change anything. Neither did logging out and logging back in.

Can you try with a different browser? My guess is the site isn't tested on that browser.

FWIW I'm using Chrome for Android on mobile. V.84

I just tried some unrated promotion puzzles, on the same Chrome version and it let me promote to a queen.

This is still a problem, I get this promotion bug all the time when I play the against any computer opponent on chrome For iPad. Most of the time the move just won’t go through no matter what even if it is the only possible move (other than a king move) and when it rarely does go through it’s always bishop.

When I promote a pawn it automatically gives me a bishop, but if I try to promote by taking a piece it will not even allow me to make the move.

A very similar issue, it is very frustrating isn’t it? 

The problem has got worse now. Every time I play puzzles or lessons or a daily game, the system refuses to let me promote a pawn, either straight forward or by taking a piece. I click on the promotion square and all of the icons show up but whichever one of the four I select, the system cancels the move. Am I doomed to never again be able to promote a pawn? Is anyone From chess.com monitoring this and willing to sort it out? I am unlikely to take up premium membership when I do not get a perfect system.

There has been an identified issue with an interaction between promotion and Animation type under Settings > Board and Pieces.  Try changing to something other than Arcade or Natural 

I don't have arcade or natural. I am currently on walnut, so I will try something else.
