Israel flag ban

Hello 👋, I’m just wondering why (in the light of what the UN special committee, amnesty international, hundreds of experts and human rights organisations are calling a genocide) chess . com are still allowing the Israeli flag to be flown in games?

The genocidal acts described by experts and human rights organizations include large-scale killing, use of starvation as a weapon of war, destruction of civilian infrastructure, attacks on healthcare workers, and forced displacement.

I would also like to remind everyone that anti-semitism is disgusting and ought not be tolerated. Many Jewish people are also against the ongoing genocide!

Chess . com MUST do the right thing and ban the Israel flag.

No flags should be banned on a chess website. Banning flags won't end any wars or save any lives or achieve anything politically, it just stops normal people here from being able to identify with their country, and that's wrong.

What Israel is doing to the Palestinian people is horrific. The Russian invasion of Ukraine was wrong.
But I agree with Noemi, Chess.com should not ban flags.

*facepalm*

Chess.com does not allow discussion of things like this in forums.

This site isn't political and should remain neutral, there are other places to discuss this. This site is chess and should remain as such imo.

I agree. Poltical debate like this is outlawed in the forums anyway.

Chess.com should have a very moderated forum to talk about all political arguments instead of swatting down serious debate only for someone else to write the same exact thing days or even hours later.

There's private clubs for that.

Talking about politics is not allowed in general forums (and many other places). If you want to so, you must join a private club that allows this kind of discissions.

Please keep Chess.com a safe and friendly place for everyone.

Taking the conversation to a private club would not allow it to be open to everyone on the site. At this point the moderators are playing whack a mole with these posts if one was allowed to remain there creation would slow exponentially.

The site is definitely political.

The forums are not allowed to be.

I agree it should remain neutral or at least consistent.

Why, because people offer a counterpoint?
