It is unacceptable and irresponsible that there are no paid mods here.

It's not negligence. Chess.com has a system where ordinary members are encouraged to report objectionable items. Since moderators and staff can't be everywhere, in every forum, all hours of the day and night, it helps to point out the problems.
Reading your posts, I took a look and didn't see anything being reported by a lot of people.
It is possible that some items you would object to were recently removed.
There are many moderators who are often checking to see what has been reported.
There may still be items posted that need to be removed from time to time, but it seems like this system has helped to keep things reasonably in control.

It is negligence because chess.com can do more but doesn't. Yes the content gets removed but only after it's been hanging around the forums for about 10 minutes. Ten minutes is too long. It often takes even longer. Did you even read my post to the end or is it part of the job being an unpaid mod to stop reading halfway through and be a c.com apologist by default

I was so disgusted by some of those images I simply closed out the forum immediately instead of reporting. It's not my job to do what chess.com should be paying someone to do.

Hi all,
I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who reached out with feedback and reports about the recent inappropriate posts on the forums. We know how unsettling it has been to see our community space targeted with offensive content, and we’re truly grateful for your patience and understanding.
Please know that we’re actively addressing this issue and doing everything we can to prevent further disruptions. Our moderation team is working diligently to stop this individual, and we are working internally to implement additional measures to safeguard the forums. Your support and vigilance is invaluable in helping us respond as effectively as we can.
We’re committed to keeping this community a positive and safe space for everyone, and your help in reporting concerns is essential to that mission.
Warm regards
Richard (Community Moderation Manager)
