Justice for iOS
Justice for iOS!
Multiple premoves for iOS would be a dream-come-true for blitz/bullet players. Currently, iOS players are at a disadvantage (in that regard) compared to PC/Android players. They have that feature - we don't.
Your problem sounds weird, perhaps it's because your account was created today.
One thing about that, there is a red box with an exclamation mark showing that you have notes, so you won’t forgot to check them. But writing out all of my moves on a phone keyboard is very time consuming, so notes aren’t satisfactory anyway.
Conditionals are a very good feature, and iOS users should not be the only ones to have this essential feature missing. The absence of multiple premoves is even worse, since it actively gives iOS users a large disadvantage in Live Chess.
iOS users are thus severely handicapped in both Live and Daily Chess. The exclusive absence of Conditional moves and multiple premoves work together to make the iOS experience fundamentally worse for everyone.
Due to the fact that iOS users are the only people who don’t have these things, not having these features isn’t just inconvenient - it’s genuinely unfair in terms of playing Chess, and unnecessarily nerfs iOS users in every game they play, which makes an unequal playing field. For example, due to multiple premoves being absent from ONLY iOS, in a Speed Chess game, an Android user will have an inherent and fundamental speed advantage over an iOS user, due to no fault of either player.
Does anyone have any theories as to why these things haven’t been added? There’s so little downside, even from a corporate perspective.
All the same stuff is still possible, it just looks different (4 bots per row, so monthlies look bad) and made me get used to it again (I couldn’t find the play button after using custom settings)
Why is that higher priority than adding a very useful feature that only one platform is missing?!
But we also have to appreciate that chess.com is progressing a little, as there are no scam ads on the forums.
I really don't know what chess.com developers are doing. Are they just drinking wine in a yacht with girls from our money we pay for memberships?! I think they just got too lazy, because chess.com has 215+ million users, from which ~21 million users are daily active, and 200.000+ users are joining daily, but that shouldn't mean that they should sit back and watch.
Actually, a lot of features are missing out of all applications, for example, reading long comments. This could be easily solved. Although I'm not a developer, I came up with two solutions in a few seconds. First solution, just make the size of comments infinitely expandable, as on the website.
Second solution, just add a little button that expands the comment if you want to read it in full length.
It has nothing to do with limits of iOS and everything to do with dysfunction in their engineering effort. Lackluster engineers and managers collecting giant paychecks and no one with the specialized knowledge to assess their performance.
Also… As I’ve stated before, Daily Games have chats. This is a useful feature, but iOS recently had it significantly nerfed for no reason.
Android can see back 50 messages. The website can see all the way to the beginning. In fact, we used to be able to see the past 50 messages, too! But with a recent update, they LOWERED this to 10.
TEN. A history of 10 messages. That is nowhere near enough to have a conversation. And using the website doesn’t excuse this problem either, since the chat box there is a TINY little slit.
The character limit that was originally imposed on iOS was 125 characters per message, while everyone else had 500. With the same update, our 125-character limit got raised to everyone else’s 500. But this in no way balances things out. We had to sacrifice our message history (a very important part of Daily Game conversation) to get a character limit that everyone else already had. Sum that up, and we’re just worse off again.
Think about that. We USED to have a good and equal chat limit, but they intentionally kicked the iOS app while it was already down, creating even more inequality. While I acknowledge that we have reached equality on chat message length, I also acknowledge that they have created further inequality in its place by intentionally restricting our chat history limit so much.
And if you don’t know just how little a history of 10 messages is, this post is 6 paragraphs long.
