Yes, the Leagues competition ended 3 years ago. They left the structure in place but there is no prize competition any more.
You can still have your own competition to see if you can get 20,000 trophies in a week, like the winners did in competition.
They have said that they hope to bring them back at some point.

100% should be brought back, almost all competitive games have something like this it really drives the player base up. I can imagine logging on, seeing the new rewards, its something like a cool chromatic icon, and wanting to grind to get it. And it could bring the concept of rare items on 'OG' accounts making the interface a little bit more fun.
I think chess.com should implement some rewards for finishing a high place in the leagues.
Right now there is no real incentive to grind to 1st place or even top 10. Truth is no one cares about the leagues right now.
I suggest rewards such as unique icons, stickers, themes etc.
By having rewards, that everyone can see in a game, but only earn by finishing well, it will incentivise players to grind. Also, if the rewards change each season, players will want to GRIND EACH SEASON.
I think this would be a big improvement, let me know what you guys think.
