lesson week limit
I see it: Lesson counts reset each week on Sunday at midnight. But I didn't see any lesson this week and system says that I reach limit.
Hi, I have reached my weekly limit but would like to go over the previous lessons. I am unable to do so. My understanding is that this is allowed. What am I missing?
I believe each time you open a lesson, even one you’ve previously opened counts as one of your free lessons.

Nope, click the link.

What @Wits-End posted is correct and matches your screenshot. If a player views a previously completed lesson from that week, it counts against that week's lesson limit.
The full sentence is, "I believe each time you open a lesson, even one you’ve previously opened counts as one of your free lessons."
Chess.com should teach reading comprehension to staff.
"Each time" indicates clearly you would be counted twice.
"Against" indicates a negative.
So, if you looked at puzzle #56 on Monday that would be one. Puzzle #57 would be two. The screenshot says it won't be counted as a third if you do puzzle #56 again on Tuesday, but you will if it is puzzle #58. The quoted text indicates you are revisiting #56 and being counted as a third.
I just tried, and I see the problem in the English.
"Lesson counts" refers to any access to the lesson. When I read the linked page with the screenshot, I read it like "Pizza counts". If you ordered a pizza and you didn't eat all the pieces you could still finish the pizza later. However, you have to complete the lesson or else you have to pay up for that week.
In other words, you can't have leftover pizza in the morning. Not a good marketing ploy to get people to pay. I thought chess.com would have the decency to allow us to revisit a lesson that week.

@Wits-end isn't staff, just a regular member. And this is about lessons, not puzzles, but yes, starting a lesson counts as ding the lesson when it comes to weekly attempts. It does make much sense to do it any other way, or people could sample unlimited lessons. In regards to previously viewed lessons, members could eventually get to unlimited ones if they didn't count those.
I didn't know that puzzles and lessons were treated differently. I thought puzzles would be a quicker way to find out how this site works since you just solve one instead of listening to a lesson and going multiple pages.
I don't see how people can sample unlimited lessons based on my suggestion.
1) Click on a lesson for that week. You can view that one lesson unlimited number of times.
2) Click on a second lesson for the week, that is counted as a second lesson.
So, if you like it, you pay to get more (3 lessons for the week, 4 lessons, etc...), but the way they have it is you can't revisit one.
Surely there is a number between 1 and unlimited. I'll spell out the suggestion more based on the link's current offer and my modification (which I'll highlight to make it obvious it is not part of the current plans).

I wouldn't allow it in all other sections. Just one in your section, and you can revisit as many times as you want. Wait a week to get a second or pay up.

Now this is the crux of my complaint. Here we have someone paying and they are paying for three weekly lessons. They ought to get access to three lessons as many times as they want. Next week, three other lessons. As long as they are a paying member you don't yank the 3 lessons from them.
If I buy a pack of gum (5 sticks), I want to be able to chew one stick from pack one (mint) five times a week.
If I buy 3 packs of gum (mint, cinnamon, citrus), I should be allowed to chew 15 sticks. 7 days a week, about 2 sticks a day.
If I want to chew more each day, then I pay more. The way the system is now, I have to chew 5 sticks of the same flavor in one day at the time I start chewing.

Same thing, you pay more you get more, but chess.com still wants to be able to yank the lessons away from you and bring you back to zero. The Gold and Platinum plans are not good marketing plans. I don't want lessons I am paying for and working on yanked from me during the week.

This is good, but I don't need unlimited. There must be a number between 5 and unlimited. There must be a dollar amount between $50 and $99. I think $60 for 5 lessons you can revisit that week as many times as you want is a fair offer. If you want more than 5 lessons, you pay more. Chess.com then gets more money. If you want to stick to 5 then you can do puzzles. Instead of unlimited puzzles, you pay for more too. Maybe have it 30 puzzles. The user can choose difficulty. Either 10 easy, 10 intermediate, and 10 advanced or 15 and 15 from two levels, or all 30 at one level. Want 50? Pay more.
But to yank either lessons or puzzles from the user, that is not fair to a paying customer. Restaurants give doggy bags to patrons who don't finish their meal. Workout gyms don't remove the exercise bike, treadmill, or weight station after you use it so you can't use it again that week. How about reading a book? Do you have to finish a book you bought that day or selected (library), or can you read the next chapter the next day? A library would allow you to keep the book for 2 or 3 weeks. If you bought the book, you bought the book. You don't have to return it.
There has to be an in between. Some money for some time. One time/day is ridiculous, one week is reasonable. I hope chess.com realizes people are not going to pay for these restrictions and limits.
thanks everyone for your replies. I misread the statement about reopening previous lessons. I think it is a bad policy but it is what it is.
Thanks, again

I don't think people sign up thinking they will be limited by individual lesson count that week. If it said straight out "You cannot repeat 3 different lessons in a week with the Gold plan.", then I doubt people would be signing up who want 3 lessons a week.
I guess until they come up with a reasonable offer, I'll do the one lesson a week and video record with a cell phone/cam so I can revisit as many times I want in a day, week, month, or decade.
If chess.com thinks there aren't others out there, they might want to "revisit" these threads: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/help-support/weekly-limit-for-lessons

And there are a bunch more.
I realize Granny has closed up shop and left but for crying out loud… if one wants unlimited everything go Diamond. For about $0.27 a day you can get it all. Just two bits! I don’t have Diamond because i simply wouldn’t use all the features, but it really is a deal.
