well, given that no mod has responded to this thread, and the only 3 people that responded here played little to no games..freshly new accounts

what else could it be?

they dont pay you guys enough do they lol

some of the accounts you mentioned are several years old

it doesnt matter if lichess is free, i can make a business that does the exact same thing as another site with a better interface and thats all, i can make it monetized and its not my problem if people pay for it, even more cc has benefits lichess doesnt have and thats just your opinion, cc mods are not likely to bother with alt accounts, mods have a lot of work to do and therefore wont waste their time, either its a lock or something

over the years you can see cc has a giant userbase and many paying, iits the payers choice to pay

we do realize a free site exists but cc also needs money to keep funding its site and we support it

duntcare

also entertainment wise  you can watch regular chess streams, see tournament results, vision and a bunch of gamemodes/variants and 4pc servers + good learning but even if you can find the same thing free elsewhere, some people buy premium just to support the site for great features

thats kinda weird having an account that long and not even play any games on it..

they probably all preferred to play on lichess instead lol..

i used to have a diamond subscription but cancelled because of discovering lichess and its nonexistent time lag..

but i love this site and i would happily pay again if the time lag issue gets resolved..

until then im just going to do like the other fake mods in here do..play on lichess
EuweMaxx

the other site is mid at best, you should come back to cc @julianoRose . New features, better puzzles, stronger playerbase etc all this waiting for you

JulianoRose
i do love the other features, but the reason why i first got an account in 2010 was playing the games..especially the speed chess games..

before i got a membership here i joined internet chess club..but transfered over to chess.com with all the features here, playing the games is the main reason why i paid before though..

since lichess offers the best part that i loved about this site for free i cancelled...

but if this site can match lichess with time lag improvements then i'd happily pay for the diamond again

Eh. Bullet chess has been ‘sticky’ for me here since v3 - I think it’s less to do with the network latency than it is with the UI page design. It’s gotten better recently such that I play it now occasionally, but more often I’m just playing blitz or Fog of War. Happy to pay for Gold - Diamond gives you more access to the learning tools that I don’t use and don’t care about. Lichess focuses more on existing players, while Chess.com is trying to grow the game overall - it means you gets lots of immature kids hereabouts, but generally they don’t have the smug self righteousness that tends to seep out of many lichess fans
JulianoRose
thats what i kinda think thats why i mentioned a suggestion in another thread that maybe there can be a future option on here to turn off all unnecessary functions to rduce lag..

and i'll take the smug self righteous title if it pushes others to speak about it and eventually get the site improved..lol

i literaly dont know what you mean by time lag, lag is client side connection

if you mean premove 0.1 second lag thas probably different and doesnt effect your play

the site isnt laggy at all and its either your computer or internet

i have over a thousand games

JulianoRose
lol i wasnt talking about you..i meant the ones you were defending that has been here for years..one of them played one game..another played none and the other played like 30
EuweMaxx

they will fix the lag issue, i read that chesscom is planning to use distributed servers which will reduce ping significantly.

JulianoRose
i just knowmy games are a lot smoother on lichess..my time here would just stop..i could be winning the game hereit would start off smoothly then i would lose like a third of my time
JulianoRose
euwemaxx thank you..finally someone who acknowledges the time lag..im looking forward to that

that "lag" is diferent

clock stopping isnt lag, its disconecting, its not that big of a lag issue but just less ping like he mentioned which only cause delays of fractions of seconds

thats literally a connection issue and has nothing to probably do with ping

David
It’s always ironic when people who find lichess far superior seem to feel the need to post about in the Chess.com forums rather than just enjoy their ‘superior’ experience in peace. I guess Chess.com must be doing something right to keep drawing these people back… :-)
Gregg-Turkington

Other is not automatically better.  Other is simply different.

duntcare thanks for clarfying the difference with lag and ping..and that diagram that was posted with the numbers i dont have all that..im using the app on my ipad..

and i misworded it, my time wouldnt stop, it would just run while my premove doesnt play itwould just stuck..

i just know that i can play on lichess ultrabullet with none of that stuff going on..although not perfect like speedupserver pointed out, but still better than here..

caedrel....of course i love chess.com if you actually paid attention to what ive been writing..i have to state it once again that im not bashing chess.com just to bash it, im trying to see improvement..when there is improvement then i will pay for the diamond again..

people like speeduptheserver has posted about this issue and countless others and dont feel heard..instead we get comments by wanna be mods talking down on people wanting them to just accept the issue and keep paying money?

we're trying to see improvement and we're gonna keep posting about it til we see improvement..watch how many more memberships get bought once that happens

If people would do a continuous ping on their internet at home.  I think they would be shocked at how often their network drops.  This is a trace router from work to chess.com.

Thats a lot of hops to have to make.

they are mentioning huge lag, 200 ping isnt big, in school most people have constant over 5k ping and elsewhere yeah, i get that 50 ish is regular but its not that big, and its not their priority over other site issues

That is why i posted that if people actually took the time to test their home network many would be surprised how often it drops, lags, etc.

Just because someone see 5 bars doesnt mean anything.

I used to do PC/Networking on the side.  I go to someones home because they are complaining about how slow their network is. So i ask the 3 usual questions:

1. How old is your router/WiFi device?

2. When was the last time you reboot them and or updated the firmware?

3. When was the last time you defraged your HDD?

All 3 elicited a blank stare and a "I don't know"

The issue ended up being:

The router was 10 years old so heat degradation took its toll on it.

They hadn't applied any firmware updates.

They didn't use any security encryption.  Their were over 200 instances of someone using their wifi.

They hadn't defraged the HDD in over 3 years.

i see

for me its rebooting router because its cluttered with cache and memory issues, boosts speeds a lot

they are also mentioning ipad and imo that could be issue (and bad wifi reciever/single band)
