Better yet, delete them, wasting server space.
Lock Threads That Are Inactive For Over A Year
I would argue that they should be locked after 90 (or even 60? 30?) days tops. Don't delete them though- sometimes I'll search for something rather than making what's bound to be the 17th thread on "How to attack the Sicilian" or whatever- the responses from years ago would still be pretty valid, even for a blunder prone person such as myself.
I don't like that locked threads you can't delete your posts. Some posts I regret from years ago are stuck permanently visible in locked threads (albeit buried under 2000 pages of forum topics so I guess it doesn't matter lol).
Jeez..first world problem.🤣
If someone from a 3rd world country was posting on the site to share their desperate situation (not the scam ones but a real one), and their post got buried in 100 pages of new threads within 1 day, would you be saying the same thing?
I'm tired of people bumping threads that haven't had a post in over 6 years...
I'm gonna come back to this message in six years and give it a bump.![]()
Seriously though, I think you can unsubscribe from threads. At least that would stop the announcements from coming your way.

No, I stumble across is every other day. All of the threads I spoke in that are over a year old are dead now.
