missing in-game annotations (daily games) in new analyis mode

Hi all.

How can I access my annotations?

I'd like to compare (or at least be able to access) my in-game annotations (notes) from my games (daily) to compare w/ computer analysis and add/ modify my notes.

I vaguely remember, that this was possible prior to the changes to the analysis mode.

@de_hawkeye hi there. Have you tried right clicking on your move in the move list in the analysis tab? A drop-down menu should appear giving you the ability to add an annotation either before or after the move.

If you are referring to the private notes tab that one has in a game....it will still be accessible, but not from within the game analysis mode. When you click on a game in your game archive, before clicking "analysis" or game report...the notes tab is still accessible as a tab on the right. But if you click analyse you will not be able to view private notes. One could not either with the old system.

Hi,

thanks for taking your time.

Yes, you are right, I can still access the notes. But what I am actually looking for are the in-game annotations I did.

So during the game, I click on moves -> analyis and i can make annotations.

Cannot seem to find these after the game is finished and this is a pity. I list all my thoughts there sad.png

de_hawkeye hi therehappy.png

I do the same as you. In the self analysis section during games I go and make annotations next to important variations and moves  I have thought up during the game. I will go and have a look at one of my old games and see if those annotations are still there. They should still be there after the game has finished. The issue is once you enter the post game analysis engine one can't go and open the self analysis section at the same time.

They *should*, but I cannot find it sad.png If it's really gone, I *really* like to have it back!

@de_hawkeye I have looked at a game that I had made annotations in the self analysis section. You are right! After one has done an a game analysis one can't get back ones old annotations! If one clicks the self analysis button the new game analysis comes up NOT the old self analysis section with one's annotations!

Have you told customer support about this at all? Customer support need to know about this!

jdcannon

De_hawkeye, would you mind jumping on a screen sharing call so I can see what you are referring to? That would help a lot.  If so, please send me a DM.

flashlight002

@jdcannon I have sent a mail today to support (Amelia) with screenshots and a screen video as well.

flashlight002

@jdcannon I sent it to Amelia at 16h45 as I tested what @de_hawkeye was explaining and I am able to replicate this bug/problem. Besides the screenshots and the screen video I also have explained the issue precisely.

Essentially this is the problem: in a daily game one has access to the self analysis board. One accesses it by clicking the button with an icon of a board with a magnifying glass in it. Now in this section one can plan moves and variations and also add annotations to moves. For paying members one can save all of this, so it is all available throughout the length of the game.

Now the game comes to an end and one runs an analysis on the game.

Now close the analysis.

Now find this game in your archive and click on it. Now click on the self analysis button. Instead of bringing up the moves, variations and annotations saved for this game in this section, INSTEAD one is taken to the engine analysis section. All the data that had been saved in the self analysis board section cannot be accessed.

@jdcannon forgot to say when I mentioned above that I sent member support my mail at 16h45... that I am in South Africa so we are GMT +2

jdcannon

So let me put it in my own words to make sure i understand:

If you save self-analysis during a game. (daily) and then run our new fancy analysis after the game is over you lose all your self-analysis?

flashlight002

@jdcannon correct. If one goes back to the game after one has run the "new fancy analysis" and clicks on the "self analysis board" button it opens the new fancy analysis....instead of opening all the self analysis one had saved during the game. Engine analysis should not be invoked by pressing the "self analysis board" button. A clear fault. There are a host of other buttons for starting the new engine analysis functions.

@flashlight002 Thanks for following-up.

@jdcannon Thanks for noticing; hope it get's fixed.

jdcannon

Your welcome. We are working on it now.

@de_hawkeye it's my pleasure happy.png

The analysis I store in each of my daily chess games has disappeared. This is where I try out different ideas and store them. Now, my analysis has been replaced by the list of moves that have been made by my opponent and me.

flashlight002

@mikeintc am I correct this happens after you have done a game analysis? That's what is happening. Once you do a game analysis all your saved self analysis data is wiped out and replaced with the game analysis data.

@jdcannon hi there. I was told by @dallin in the forum post "fixing new analysis" that this bug where all one's saved self analysis gets wiped out once an analysis is done and thereafter clicking the "self analysis" button leads one to the game analysis had been addressed with a fix supposed to be in place last week already.

Below communication from @dallin 5 days ago.

I did a game analysis end of last week and saw it had not been fixed yet. Can you update us please?

mikeintc

@flashlight002 I'm talking about daily games that are currently in progress, so I haven't performed a computer analysis of these games.

flashlight002

@mikeintc wow that's a new bug I haven't experienced yet on any of my daily games saved "self analysis" moves and annotations. Have you sent a bug report? Have you got screenshots of when it happens?

mikeintc

@flashlight002 When I went to make my moves on my next daily game, all my saved ideas in Analysis mode were gone. I don't have any screenshots, and I haven't sent a bug report. Currently I see my prior analysis in one of my 3 games. Are there people working on the problem? (The analysis for all my games was gone before.)
