***NEW SECTION*** opening bots!!!

Hi Chess.com

Love this site! I have a suggestion for you to improve this site.

Set up a new section of the bots called "opening bots" or "opening practice". Give each bot a specific opening, for example...

Mr. London (flag of England)

Mr. Stafford

Mrs. Scandinavian

Senoir Sicilian (Italian flag as icon)

King Opening

Queen Gambit

(and so on)

The members can practice against the bots as either black or white. This way they can practice against someone playing certain openings OR they can practice against someone playing against that opening.

So say I want to practice playing against the queen's gambit I would choose black. If I wanted to practice playing the queen's gambit I could play white and black would play typical opposing moves.

If you want to make this feature REALLY valuable then you could also add a difficultly level for each bot. So London EASY - MID - HARD. You could get data from Chess.com about common moves at level X and use that to inform the bots. For example, what would a typical 1200 level player play against the queen's gambit.

I really like this idea and think it would be great. If you introduce this I will buy a year's diamond membership wink.png

Thanks for this. I’ve tried it before and it is a. Complicated to set up and b. Doesn’t really play openings per se but plays from set positions. It also generally doesn’t play standard moves against openings but rather not moves.

I could not more strongly agree with this recommendation! Do it!

I like this idea, I hope to see it.
What I also would like to know if anyone has made a list of all the openings of the current bots (that they mostly play, they vary but tend to favor 2 openings seems like). That way, I know (this X bot) does these openings. This way it can help me practice with them what I'm working on.
Now I click Resign to start over until they do the opening I want to work on or I'm guessing which bots will come out with e4 or d4 or something else entirely.
