ongoing game vs bots

i used to always have an ongoing game against one of the bots, it would sometimes last days or even weeks. is this no longer possible? every time i click on play bot as i always did, it asks me to select an opponent bot, game options, etc. then i start a game from scratch

ps. even better the games would be stored in the cloud so i could even resume one on a different device

It's supposed to continue the game. However, the game state is local to the device, so if you do anything to wipe that state, such as clearing cache or running in private/incognito mode. Since it's device specific, switching also will result in a new game.

Bots are designed to not need an Internet connection. Initial bot load can, if the bot information isn't loaded/cached, but otherwise, it's meant to be local.

i always play on the app and never clear data, so the actions you mentioned are not the culprit(s). what else could be wiping that state? i notice that it often happens when new seasonal characters roll out... anything else?

There's a maximum time, but don't know exactly what that is.
