I thought you "didn't do the upvote and downvote" thing.
Only players with 2000+ rating should be allowed to upvote/downvote

Agreed, these trolls and low rated players are abusing the downvote feature like crazy. Hopefully staff at Chess.com implement this change as soon as possible and the forums might be saved

So what about the downvote feature? Its so miniscule and unimportant (sometimes) that even if this was recommended, I don't think they would add it.

You realize that you wouldn’t be eligible to upvote/downvote comments, considering that the only rating of yours 2000+ is your bullet rating

bullet and blitz, the ratings that actually matter on this site. nobody cares about rapid.

Rapid and daily are a measure of how good you are at chess. Blitz And faster are just… how fast you are
well ur message got 2 downvotes
Not sure why it got two downvotes he's asking a question.

bruhhhhhh. atp yall want to make this a 2000+ only site. the downvote/upvote system is a feature so people can express their feelings towards something without having to directly specify. its a generalized way of saying "i like this"/"i dislike this". its a good way for forum posters to recieve input on features or know whether their ideas were good or not good. restricting the feature is like putting tape over someones mouth so that they cant voice their opinion. if it hurts you so badly that you have "-6" or any numbe in the negatives, just ignore it. simple as that. its supposed to allow you to get feedback on things you say, so you can rectify them.

OH NO SOMEBODY MISUSED A BUTTON THAT CHANGED A NUMBER, WHAT SHOULD WE DO.
Misusing my foot, go get some help if you feel hurt from that.

So? I don't care as long as these low rated trolls don't have the ability to ruin perfectly reasonable posts for no reason.

I don't think a troll would just downvote comments for the fun of it, they would probably do something else.

Yes I agree it would be nice if we had a feature for people to say how much they like or dislike something, but unfortunately trolls and low rated players will downvote anything they see for absolutely no reason, so perfectly reasonable posts get downvoted for no reason which is a huge problem.

Well, if the idea is actually good in the eyes of most of the community, the likes most likely will outweigh the dislikes.

funny when you say that while downvoting me.

dont take downvotes seriously if you have 3 or 4 of em. if you have <10(ish) downvotes, thats when you should rethink and see what you got wrong. i havent seen an instance of a reasonable post getting <10 downvotes, but maybe im wrong. if you have anything to show that would be nice.
heres my second point; you're removing a feature that benefits the majority for a minority that abuses it. it isnt other peoples fault that sometimes alts decide they want to mass downvote every comment in a forum, so why should more than 100k people get punished for the actions of 10s, maybe 100-200 people?
This is a chess forum and some people here want to see how to actually improve their chess by looking at which posts have the most upvotes. Except the posts with good advice get downvoted into oblivion by low rated trolls.
By restricting upvotes and downvotes to higher rated players who are clearly improving their chess and not trolling, people can clearly see which posts are legit.
