I think he meant he's safe from auto-bans for certain elo's

The fact that you're even talking about this as if it should/would/could somehow be some kind of possibility.

By the way, Bubba, you're deliberate and conscious skipping to answer my post is in fact an answer. Your inability to see other people's thoughts and messages in 3rd-dimensional form with sides and angles that exist on more than just a flat plain... I think kindly you should just shut up. Please at least do yourself that favor.

The fact that I said I just hit 2000 Elo and it got downvoted is crazy. I meant to say I would be safe from any elo-based ban on the forums if they somehow went through.

PennsylvanianDude

I guess I worded that comment poorly.

No it was easy to understand lmao

MariasWhiteKnight

I dont think chess.com would ever ban based on low rating alone.

They know the majority of their user base is low rated, so why would they enrage them in such a stupid way ?!?

2000+ players still get banned regularly.

he meant like rating bans from forum

Guys, I just realized that even though this would make the forums a better place for everyone, the under 500s would still complain and they might stop buying memberships, which is why I think they should be shadowbanned instead so Chess.com doesn't lose any money.

Cherry-Blossom46

I haven't seen a post on here in forever

David-Begley

they should be allowed to be on But I agree there is to many people that are on just for none chess related things

i think they'll notice once they start trying to get on the fourms... this isnt just a money problem, honch. this is a problem of grabbing a portion of the community and practically throwing them in the garbage due to inherent lack of skill, or incapability to surpass a certain threshold due to other circumstances. this is another way of punishing the majority for the actions of the minorty.

Define what you mean by "shadowban" as that term can differ in definition.

usually it just means banning without reason and doing it quietly

a mass shadowban is like banning a group (U500) without announcing that they are doing so. they'll realize once they try posting, though.

another "shadowban" would just be condemning them to one forum section, same deal though

I feel like that would be worse tho getting mass ban without knowing will cause more outrage than op original idea.

Realistically like 99% of them will never find out

most otfers will find out almost instantly, with people slowly realizing sooner or later

HangingPiecesChomper

just make it so under 500s can't see topics made by people above 2000. most of the time the thread gets derailed by trolls anyways.

ah yes, prevent 500s from improving through the forums. not every U500 is a troll

So what they are saying is to ban U500 from forums again.

yeah but do it "quietly" so that players don't immediately notice
