Fixing New Analysis

Hey all -

I was revisiting the bizarre results originally posted in this thread a while back (post #327).  The results I received today were equally bizarre.  Differently bizarre, but equally bizarre:

https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/daily/230408288?tab=analysis

Again, the actual move order = (thematic game starting with 1. e4 e6) 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Bg5 Be7 5. e5 Nfd7 6. h4 Nc6 7. Nf3 h6 8. Bxe7 Qxe7 9. Qd2 a6 10. O-O-O Nb6 11. Rh3 Bd7 12. Rg3 f6 13. Re1 O-O-O 14. exf6 gxf6 15. Bd3 Rdf8 16. Rg6 h5 17. Kb1 Kb8 18. a3 Rfg8 19. Rxg8+ Rxg8 20. g3 1/2-1/2

I'd still like to know when/if this is going to get fixed.

Thanks.

How? What was bizarre? I looked at your link.

I see nothing bizarre.

Following screen shots taken at 3:20 pacific on 10/04/19.  See previous posts for actual move order:

@erik if I may reach out to you and ask how development and remedial coding on the engine is proceeding and when you foresee new features (like a deeper analysis option) and all the various bugs and issues being ironed out entirely and a new stable version being put in to either beta or production i.e. released to the general website base.

Looking forward to your input. (My opologies I have been away out of Town on a very important mattter -  so have not been following the latest threads in this forum recently)

@mgt3 and @notmtwain again the issue is the new analysis engine is scrambling up the moves and not analysisng the actual thematic game and original move order played. A clear bug in terms of analysing an opening thematic game. Simple as that. This bug was reported by @mgt3 a long time ago so one would expect that the engine development team would have looked into it and fixed it or reported back their status on this matter . Since it is still returning a fault then this has not been fixed. Hence I have reached out to @erik who will have his finger on the pulse of his enterprise and naturally has the power and influence to see matters corrected in a timely fashion. I await his input. Thank you @mgt for checking up on your original bug to see if it was fixed. Only by doing such "post" testing can we be sure that the new product development remedial work on this new engine is being implemented or not.

We should have a release THIS week of some new features including the ability to choose higher depth as a default, and a "max analysis" option!

Looking forward to it.

Many thanks.

@erik this is great news! I can't wait to test these features!

flashlight002

@PawnstormPossie I have not seen anything at all. Waiting with baited breathe and anticipation!

@erik? ETA? Have you hit a speed bump on rolling out these 2 features this week?

I have picked up a bug/ glitch that "sort of" relates to "analysis". I have had verification from all my friends across all platforms and all web browsers that it is happening to them too and they are seeing this too. So it is a website issue.

If one open one's daily games home page it looks like this (please take note of my red annotations on the image):

See how it says 'analyze' next to EVERY game in the "archive" preview section? If I now and go and actually open my archive by first tapping the hand holding pawn icon on the left vertical menu and then selecting "archive" from the available choices it looks like this now below. Notice how the accuracy figures are now inserted. Only if a game has never been put through the engine does it say "analyze" in the Accuracy column. There aren't any saying "analyze" as I have put all the games through the engine. I also get the same result if I tap the arrow to the right of the "archive" heading in the "daily games homepage" which also leads to the "archive "section of the website:

@erik must I write in to membersupport@chess.com to make them aware of this 'glitch'? It is quite an  irritating little glitch.

Thank you devs & staff for upgrading the analysis depth & adding the option to dive even deeper.  The upgrade is much appreciated, but it does create a challenge re: the way the daily & archive pages display "analyze" vs the accuracy scores.

1a) I echo flashlight002's point that the daily pages & archive pages should be made consistent regarding the accuracy column data being presented...

1b) and even tho I run analysis on every completed game, my pages have always displayed many games with "analyze" rather than the accuracy %s.  FYI, in the following screenshot all but the amro86  games have been analyzed (old analysis, d20), typically on the date they were completed:

...perhaps this issue should be moved to a separate post?

Now to the effects of the upgraded analysis depth...

2) It appears that going back and re-processing a game that has already been processed changes the accuracy column data from the initial d20 %s back to "analyze" instead of changing the %s to the d26 or d30 %s:

2a) This game was completed and the analysis processed on 09/18/19:

2b) after re-processing at depth 26 today 10/12/19, then refreshing the archive page:

2c) and again after d30, today 10/12/19, then refreshing the archive page:

2d)  There was one case where the d26 run *did not* revert the archive page accuracy column to "analyze", but the subsequent d30 run *DID* revert the accuracy column to "analyze".

@mgt3 how and where does one choose to do an initial game scan greater than d=20? Where does one choose this option? Where is the setting?

I just analysed a game and it just automatically did the same d=20 analysis. There wasn't any dialogue box etc asking me to choose my depth beforehand etc. Are they rolling this upgrade in stages?

Also can one re analyse a game that was analysed to d=20 to this new higher depth? If so...how?

1) open the analysis page for a completed game, 2) click on the analysis tab, 3) click on the setting/gear icon, 4) behold the new interface. happy.png

@mgt3 Did that. Not seeing anything other than the old analysis. I went into archives....clicked on an analyses game. Same analysis appeared.

Maybe a Beta thing?  Try joining the Beta Club and try again...

@mgt3 it didn’t even run a new analysis. Just loaded the same d=20 analysis.
I just tried analyzing a game in the analysis board too. Again....just ran a straightforward d=20 analysis. I am using an iPad Pro accessing site via Chrome. I also tried it on my Samsung Note 5 using Chrome for Android to access www.chess.com So I ain’t using the apps. Using the Internet. What should I be seeing it and why ain’t I seeing it?

flashlight002

@mgt3 Ah. I am not on beta at present. Is this still only in beta? I was in beta group but I had so many issues I left.

flashlight002

@mgt Ok I rejoined beta. Will try again now

What I'm seeing...:

As to *why* you're not seeing it...  you're asking the wrong guy.  Sorry bro.

@mgt3 you were right. I must be in beta for now. Seeing the screen now. Thanks for your help...and for such fast help. Much appreciated!!
