Some puzzles are incorrectly rated

Wait, hear me out.

I've seen a bunch of puzzles in the last week that were definitely incorrectly rated. Not only were they the wrong rating, but every single one of them was rated 1800. Here's the latest one I came across: https://www.chess.com/puzzles/problem/2120578

You can also tell because the pass rate on all of them was well over 90%.

The puzzles get their initial ratings based on members that have failed them or succeeded. After some time they get a set rating.

It's still possible that some may end up higher than might be appropriate. It shouldn't be extremely common though

Hi Martin,

Seeing how each puzzle is rated exactly 1800 and they all had high 90%+ pass rates (they were really easy), I'd definitely say this is a... bug?

Martin_Stahl

It's probably not a bug. That said, that puzzle is 400 rated now.

I've seen a couple more but I forgot to take note. This one is from this morning. 2340634

I'm seeing an unfortunate trend in my puzzle rating.

Tell me about it, one 4000 is a #1

At least I'm trending a little bit better. Here's another one.

I guess nobody cares? I keep seeing them. 98.7% pass rate on this one.
