Let's face it, the vast vast majority of game abandonments are rage quits. If they were bad connections they would happen randomly instead of after the opponent blunders or falls for a tactic which has been 100% of the times I've been abandoned.
I do understand that there are people with bad connections and that this can cost them a game they otherwise would likely have won, but everyone who's ever played any ranked game online has had to accept that risk. It comes with the territory. As it stands abandonment is just a way for a salty player to "deny" you a proper victory, at least as far as your win statistics are concerned, since abandonments do not seem to be counted in the win percentages of your stats page.
I think you should submit a bug report.
