Aborted games should cost alot!

If aborted games are an issue for many, I recommend playing on lichess.org instead. They have stronger anti-cheating measures and more active players. And sidenote to mr.devillish apples, trump obviously doesn't say stupid things if he got elected president of the United States.
Finally, I think you should never resign and always play the game until the end.

It's funny that people from the States call Trump stupid, well, he's your President, kind of represents you, so indirectly you are sorta making yourselves look stupid. Not to mention that all those who voted for him, (I am expecting it's the majority), are also being labelled as stupid.

Stupid.

I'm not American, but I know this anyway. Trump didn't win by majority votes among the general population. He got a higher number of electoral votes. I guess that shows that the people's opinions means jack**** in the US.

To people who believe that game abandoning players should be punished: You are either stubborn idiots or naive people.

I live in Australia, and my internet connection has never failed me to date here. Not once have I ever been forced to abandon because of bad internet. However, when I went on a holiday a few months ago, the internet was horrid. I lost about ten won positions due to rubbish internet, and I even remember losing in a position where I had a mate in one because of the internet. I could only sit and stare helplessly at the screen as my timer ticked away.

Since then I have become more empathetic to people who experience this away. In most cases, they may have been forced to abandon because of a lost connection.

However, I do despise people who refuse to play on and wait for the game to abandon or their time to run out simply because they are fools who have a hurt ego.

On the voting thing; If the electoral college wasn't in place then 6-7 major cities in the U.S. would ever vote. City size compared to some states is vastly outnumbered.

Loosing a game to bad internet is something out of your control, That I can understand. But when you take someones Queen and the other person quits immediately even if they still have a majority of pieces is stupid to me!

Since playing to the end is "stupid" (by some people) I suppose I'll be stupid and not a quitter!

I don't understand what is your problem. How many people must tell you that you don't gain fewer points if someone resigns before you actually listen? And also, some people want to not waste their time by playing on and then either analyze the useful part of the game or playing another game. Plus, why do you even want to play out a winning position? If you want practice with that, go to chess.com drills. A person who actually likes chess would instead of wasting all their time playing and making random nonsensical pointless complaints, study chess and get better.

Tetra_Wolf

Also, as a person who plays to the end, it is not stupid, but it is sometimes pointless. I recently started only playing on only if I have proper chances because it is pointless to waste 2 people's time and energy just to have the satisfication of not resigning. Sometimes it is also good to not resign if people try to torture you because there actually are stalemate chances, or in OTB blitz or online bullet, but otherwise your opponent has enough time.

prowannab

As you stated. "playing to the end is sometimes pointless" Not always and a game played to the end can and will result in learning skills. Playing/practice is the only way to get better at a skill. Why is thaqt so darn f=difficult to understand. Do not professional athletes practice, and hone their skills why wouldn't a chess player?

people does not realize that loose and lose are different things

Was playing kazlm in tournament, the guy(~1300) is really stronger than me(~950), I take the advantage. It turns that I can mate in 1! no hope for kazlm and suddenly game is aborted! How is that possible... Don't tell me this is a coincidence...

In fact quitting in mate in 1 can be wise sometimes and you do not lose any extra points, look at the rules and you will understand the Elo system much better.

Are you saying a 0 point gain is normal if your opponent drops the game when he realize this is hopeless? I don't get it, please explain

ChronosTL

if you are not getting points if your opponent resigns tell it to the staff because it is a bug, look in wikipedia or else the Elo system. My opponents have resigned and i get my points and btw before the game starts they say how many points you get.

Example:

ChronosGodGT (1000) vs Abdullah (1000)

+6 Win, 0 Draw, -7 Loss

Maybe it is not accurate but it has a point...Now if you are trolling do not hope to get smarter.

timedothwasteme

@RealChessNoob The game probably got aborted because the tournament ended.

How do I ask the staff?

ChronosTL

There is the sidebar where is a Question mark in a circle (?) hover your cursor over there and there will be "Report a bug".

I wish if you are the first move and you don’t, so it aborts. The player who doesn’t move should lose points
prowannab

I agree with dingo. Also I'm really tired of sore losers. They will play 50000000 games with you until they loose then quit immediately and won't respond to any game requests. Get some testicular fortitude and admit when you loose ,except it and move on! Also those players that feel like their going to loose and disconnect, wait 50 seconds and reconnect, then disconnect and so on and never make a move! Really irritating!
