Aborting games before the start

I understand that players abort games for many reasons and chronic aborting should lead to the abusing player being not allowed to play on the site.  My first question then is:  Are premium members held toa different standard. i.e. are they less likely to be not allowed to play given the same abort to total games played ratio as non-Premium members? Many aborts I believe are by players who dislike like the rating difference between themselves and their opponent and or their opponents first move. I would therefore like to suggest that a penalty of one rating point be assessed on the aborting player.  Yes. we all would sooner or later be in violation for whatever reason - we realize we're late for work, a bad connection, the wife/girl friend/boy friend/significant other etc., need our attention - whatever. But those instances are, I believe acceptable to the majority of us who click the 'Play' button. What is not acceptable is players aborting when there is no reason to abort.  The rating points gained or lost by each player is already 'handicapped' for a given outcome. If a player who gets black against a player rated 150 pts higher doesn't decides to abort because his opponent open with d4, or whatever,  should either learn how to play against it or forfeit a rating. And excessive game aborting rate should

obviously be punished, Premium member or not.  Thank you.

No. There is no such help for premium members.

If you abuse the rite to abort you loose it. It is that simple.

Many players try to avoid the Black pieces. I have an idea that the punishment is a wait for the chance to play again for a fairly short period.

But, the player will not be able to hog the Whites, as repeat offences get the punishment.

Premiums get no such leniency, and rightly so.

Why would people need to abort to play white. They can go to custom challenge and opt to play white only.

JustOneUSer
They cannot play rated games if they choose their colour.

To my point - should a player be docked a rating point for aborting a game? Yes or No.

Yes, definitely. It will nip it in the bud at the appalling penalty.

All cheats caught should be penalised two points.

And you should be docked 3 points for your impertinence in demanding a yes or no answer to such an obvious question.

I did not know this affected premium members as well. Seems very fair.

Thank you camter for your direct and succinct response.  To clarify, I was not demanding an  answer.

My thought was that if those concerned about this issue would clearly state yes or no, that the powers to be could more easily judge the sentiments of Chess, com members and perhaps take some action.  I wouldn't go so far as to say that anyone who aborts is a cheater.  A 2 point penalty would perhaps be a more effective deterrent,  no doubt.  If a penalty were put in place I'd glad pay the 3 point price.  Thanks.

You are a nice chap. I was in very sarcy mood. But I doubt if a rating point or two would motivate all that many to change their behaviour.

There may be a penalty (in rating points) that would be optimally effective.  Those that don't care

or don't pay attention pay the price.  I wasn't totally clear however. The aborting player's opponent should be awarded the penalty points.
