Yep, I had that too a few days ago. Very frustating cos I had to go offline each time when the appstore opened. Maybe you can ask chess.com about it?
They're supposed to be annoying, very little revenue is made from ads, there just a companys (chess.company in this case) way of pestering you to buy a membership.

Oh! Well, if you update it to the current version in the Store (April 29), that should solve the problem.

Settings on the app? It's not there.

I was in tactics trainer, and for no reason at all, the App Store opened. This meant that I lost 5 seconds. It happened twice, which means that I lost 10 seconds!!
I've also had this problem in the forums. I don't click on anything, but it takes me straight to the App Store!!
