I think there is a delay in the news because other more priority bugs arose and needed to be fixed. Please be patient guys, they are working on it. It will come soon.

They made a change!!  Still no messages, but the alert for a new news post shows the title of the post, and is only a single click to the post! I think that's a big improvement.
