No, it depends on erik and his team deciding that the site is ready to become the default.
Change in news functionality

Not saying there are not things that can still be improved in V3 and the whole programing dept is working full time working through the remaining issues. As far as the issue with the screen sizes I just zoom out my browser a couple clicks. No the members will not decide that will be solely Erik decision and I assure you it will not be a long time in the future. I'm only saying the members could help it go faster but those who decide to wait to the day they sign in and will be in V3 and have no way back to V2 will have a hard time at first. I can't say enough for every member to just try it and get used to the navigation as it is a bit different. I'm using it full time now and took me only a few days to get the hang of it. I have been going back and forth between V2 & V3 for over a year and it is 100% better than a year ago. Right now due to both versions running some issues can not even be resolved. The sooner V2 leaves the sooner we can get the final issues resolved and get back to chess and our clubs. Cheers all

G-man & Ameriken -- thank you.
Cmdr. Riker - did you see what they wrote? Can you explain that to Erik?
I thought my eyes were the only ones seeing things - either because of my age or all the coffee. Its one of the items I wrote about in my forum post long ago and I do not see that being addressed... yet.
I did give v3 a whirl last night. It lasted about 2 hours before I cried, "uncle" or "gimme a latte" ... can't remember which. The layout in V2 is still superior to V3; what does that mean? The layout in V2 is MORE convenient -- the side panes in V2 have links and items related to the Topic at hand... In V2's Home page (one's landing page), you see in the middle, Online games waiting your move. On the left side, your groups (very convenient place, though I wish there were room to list more than 10). In the middle, personal notes, followed by new/forum/vote chess posts, and other tracked activity. On the right, the space could be better used, but links to personal stats. Conversely, the V3 landing home page has none of that.
Go to a forum post in V2. In the middle, you get your current forum topic and all items related to that topic in the main middle section. In V3, you only have that one forum. No suggested links (I actually like those) or More Recent Posts listed off to the right.
Also, easier on these old, aged, cow eyes is V2 where there is only a single border, essentially, around the whole interface. V3 is broken up in to several panes... which, for whatever reason, is just harder on my eyes. Dark-light-Dark-light-Dark. .. I think that is what G-man and Ameriken were getting at with their comments above.
Yes, things ARE improving with V3, but I still feel it lagging behind V2... though not as much as it has been in the past.
Finally - with V3 - black-on-black fonts ought to be reported as a bug... :P

wasted 2 hours with v3 few days ago ... horrible surface. a lot of research work, a complete change from a game-feeling to work, not what i wanna spend my free time for. all looking like a mix of a childrens surface in an old people size. im not blind (yet), sorry. no adult beta-testers aged between 21-59?
so change from v2 to v3 will make "some" people leave... admin work in v3 is just annoying, sorry and bye-bye then. so imo there is a lot of work to do on v3 before changing...

HI Everyone. Answer to comments above.
Im probably the one that Gambit Man are refering to as the one that got "banned" "Muted". Reason I did that was not Private Messages. I havent got answer but It happend straight afther I send Wallnotes to 7 New Members and Welcoming them to the group. First time it have happened to me.
And to Joachim. "Nobody sends 100 PM to team match" - I am and my admins are. My group Does not slow down because of the news. We focus on keeping the activity high. We will never lett the groups fall a sleep. Cause one of the groups was a sleep one year ago and it wasnt until Around April we was happy with the participates of the group.
So Ofcourse we are sending PM to members infront of the team matches. In different Waves. Depend on the ratings needed.
I have never experienced Muting or banning when I send Private messages. I can send over 100 within 30 min. In Version 3 its VERY EASY! and fast.
News are by the way not as bad as it was some weeks ago. We get more reads now. But there is BIG potential and improvment that is needed.
My self about v2 vs v3. I like v3 more and more. It have many good features. But i took some time to adapt. But using v3 on my cellphone android is to slow. I switch over to v2 then. I use also match links from v2 cause they works fine for the v3. But v3 match links does not work for v2....

I was by the way not happy with the support chess email. It took to long time. As a premium accoutn I expect to get fast service.
I had to create my second account and share a forum and get in touch with staff.
I was lucky that Commander Riker helped me out very fast. LegoseniorPirate tried to. Thank you guys.

Im probably the one that Gambit Man are refering to as the one that got "banned" "Muted".
Indeed you were, Rune ;-)
Was your account closed or just loss of posting privileges? I had understood it had been closed...

My accont was not closed. I could still play and surf around and watch... but I could not communicate. I had a mute ban or something. It was a spam filter.

I hope that the alert system for vote chess sends an alert to admin/SA's when the time is running low at 24 hrs for 3 days a move, and at 16 hrs for games 48 hr a move time controls.

I have tried too to be banned (old functionality) or muted (new functionality) beeing caught by spam filter. I think quota for spam is higher for premium members? After Shaun told me to customize each meassage (I include name or username) I no longer get caught even if I send 100 PMs right after each other. I do think, however, that news is the right way to do this and certainly less time consuming for the admin?
I do this for my own teams which has infrequent open matches (when I have time). For teams like "MONIKA" and others where I am co-admin, I look forward to switch to V3 so news will be more effective again. These teams have decided not to participate in open matches (with exception of TMCL) until news are working effectivly again.
I do think news alerts need to be exempt from "ignore all" if we wish them to be as effective as pre April news functionality. I think members, should open a news item before the alert goes away or take individual action (just like a friend's request).
The problem with that is V3 is awful on the eye...
I second that.
