You do get alerts in V2, it is just less effective as before April change. At this point, best hope for message is transition to v3 where improvements have been made.

But a V3 news message will only reach V3 users, is that still correct?

I don't think that is the case. A v3 News message should go to the messages of all members. In practice? I don't know.

What if an admin in V2 posts the news, will all members get the news in the form of a message?

News works great again and and as effective as before April change. We can now use it again to recruit members for team natches, etc.

Indeed News has been changed to Messages like in V2. At first I had trouble with the new conversation type of messages V3 uses. After using it for a few weeks I now couldn't go back to the individual message system. Being an admin in so many groups I have a lot of messages from other admins and members. Now it is so easy to go back and see past messages. It's genius and I'm sure a lot of coding work. :) Cheers to Chess.com
