I meant as an additional option. Then when selecting opponents it could be a selectable item.
Creating a 'cleaner' place to play chess

Didn't they have at one point an option to make a seek to premium members only? To me, that seems close enough since you've paid and you don't get a refund if you're caught cheating.

I heard mention of the FIDE online system requires people to prove who they are and pay a fee. The idea is it helps cut down on cheating because once you are caught, you cannot come back.
Is this something Chess.com might consider? I would, without a doubt sign-up for it and I think a lot of people would be interested in selecting from a pool of players where they feel more confident that their opponent is not cheating.
This is not chess.com's businnes model, which is based on volume rather than quality.
If you're interested in websites trying to fight cheating in an efficient way, ICC and FIDE arena are the way to go.
And OTB is still the best place to play an honest and interesting game

Personally cheating doesn't bother me. Just thought it might be a nice and perhaps profitable feature.

Great! Now we have members dreaming up new ways, for the management to wring extra bucks out of us!

Do you think I should demand a percentage of the fees?
Yes, demand. erik is a pushover.

Maybe I don't have a good enough rating, but I've never been bothered with cheating.
And what if someone cheats against me ? Ok, I'll lose the game (not the first time ^^). Ok, my rating on chess.com will be slightly less than withou the cheater. Do I care ? No. And I don"t understand why anyone would. Could someone explain it to me ?

Not everyone likes being slaughtered by an engine. It's just a wee bit waste of your time, don't you think ? At best it's death by a thousand cuts.
Some people can't tell the difference between a strong opponent and an engine, and (apparently) they don't mind being sheep. Your choice.

"I heard mention of the FIDE online system requires people to prove who they are and pay a fee."
Paying a fee is totally wrong. Everything on the internet must be free. This is a basic human right.
WTF?

@Bobby-Why-Why-Why Not, has gone off his meds. Pay no heed.
Everything on the net might start out free, but after a short introductory period it's time to join their ecosystem, to spend, and pay.
Just ask the big three -- Microsoft, Google, and Apple.

Chess.com is the Wal-Mart of chess. They have the lowest quality and hope to make up for it by attracting the most customers. If you've seen the types of people who frequent Wal-Mart, you'll know why chess.com has the userbase it does.
Anything chess.com does, other sites do better, but chess.com tries to do everything on one site. The people who praise Tactics Trainer here clearly have never used other websites for tactics. You don't have the cheating problems @ ICC like chess.com. You also have much better user experience @ ICC because it's a pay site. You keep out 99% of the kids and trolls that way. I honestly can't think of a single reason why someone would pay for a sub @ chess.com vs ICC.

Im a IM (Iowa Master) and a ranking of 2500 in Iowa. I must say i have encounter cheating on every game that I have lost on this website

I'm going to agree with everyone on this topic. Especially Bobyyyy.
Everything on the internet should be free. It's ridiculous it's not.
When did this start with paid items? Why do we need paid items on the internet?
It's not like I have to pay when I use the benches in the city or lay down/go to the park.
That's ridicoulous!

I don't think so. He's ~65.
20 years ago everything on the internet used to be free. Even porn (without all sorts of pop ups and ads and ****).
As if I have to pay for google search and the countless other things I use google for. Suckers who use Microsoft crap can pay for what everyone else gets for free.
I fully agree with this too. Go, pay $500 for a crappy microsoft or $1000 for an apple phone where the hardware ain't worth even a $100 and $300, respectively.
I'll have my android phone where I get the OS for free and just pay for what the phone is worth.
Nice try Microsoft/Apple/Nokia/Samsung. Thanks for playing! I'm not stupid enough to pay for your crappy software.
