Of course both players would have to consent, but how cool would it be to agree to finish out the Daily Chess match with the Live Chess format? or also to be able to switch back and forth?
Especially handy during the sometimes tedious end-game maneuvers.

We have the opposite of that now. One side can go on vacation for months in a bad position.
