Beggars can't be choosers.
Dear chess.com managers
According to the same logic: I can't afford a Ferrari but I really want one. Maybe they could sell me one for 1000 $ ?
I don't mean to insult OP and I definitely understand his point, but this web site is just like any commercial product, either you can afford it or not. If not, that's "a you-problem, not a me-problem", quoting one famous chess-player :) You can get a LOT of stuff for free here, unlimited play, articles, limited tactics trainer... And you should also note that if it weren't for the ads and the premium members who pay for their membership, this site wouldn't have all these awesome features it now has. Indirectly premium members actually help the basic users as well.
I'm a premium member and I enjoy the features on this site. I do not have a large income--I live on my social security check. So if anyone is giving out discounts give it to me also. If you cannot afford to be a member there are many other fine chess websites out there for you to enjoy for free. The economics of the world is that you get what you pay for. The owners of this site have expenses, and they have to pay for them with cash money US dollars. If you want to change the world economy then I will be the first to be on your side, I support the rioters in Greece since the Greek government is forcing the citizens to pay back the money the bankers stole. We need rioters here in the USA to do the same. But in the meantime I will have to send in my subscription check each year to enjoy this website and all of its features.

Dear chess.com managers,
Congratz on your new feature. It looks promising for both sides. Lot of fun for us and lot of customers for you. Although I'm totally satisfied with your site, I can't help feeling that there is some kind of distinction among your members.
Your new feature, like all of your unique features, follows a promote politic. You can try it, but if you really want it, you have to pay for it. So far, understood. What is concerning me though is that you allow a clear distinction among your members for the simple reason that someone in a developed country should pay 10 dollars per month with an average income of 2500 dpm, while someone in an developing country should pay the same amount with an average monthly income of 250 dpm. Furthermore, I believe that there are users in a lot worse situation from that. Imaging being unemployed, and selecting chess-ing above other forms of entertaining.
I can understand your point of view. Believe me, now I know better than ever what a global economy means. The cost for you isn't being counted according where your customers based. And of course, you couldn't ask for certifications from everyone that should get a discount for some reason. I understand that this problem is over your powers. But I feel that you should not be social apathetic. Even for symbolic reasons I would feel a lot better knowing that you care about this unintentional discrimination among "standard and poor's".
Some days earlier, I received an e-mail from you. You were asking for someone who could help you promote your site, among other options. Imagine how easier would be for that guy to do so, with you changing your status from social indifferent, to social concerned. I know that it would be easier for me to feel like being part of something bigger by joining you.
Thank you for your time.
P.S. This is NOT a mail of complaining. Is just my point of view.
