A light show from hell, with engine use invited. Good summary of V3.
Experience the Love.
My last session in live bullet.. Bullet, 1 0 time control, right? Well, my browser was highjacked by an advert disiguised as a survey from my ISP (my ISP would never do a browser injection unless ordered to in response to some law or court order) Lost the game of course. Then lose lose lose lose lose. Man, I'm getting older and slower, but this is beyond the pale.
My machine is a 6800k monster that I built myself back in December. I'm on a 100/10 wired connection. I have an under 30milsec latency until the Canadian border after which --- I guess the detour to NSA headquarters takes it's toll -- I'm hitting over 100milsec latency no matter what.
I've reported the issue with a trace - the latency problem, not the advert injection.
Anyway, no matter what I do, it feels like I'm being penalized around 5secs a game. And then...AND THEN, autocheat on top.
Thank you. Turn me over and start beating on the other side, please.
What's the point in trying to become a better chess player by studying, etc. when the site you've spent a number of years practicing on begins to actively promote cheating? Time to go elsewhere, clearly. Titled players who support Chess.com should be ashamed of themselves. They should abandon the site en mass. Support of Chess.com can't be good for your reputation. Do titled players cheat? Do they teach their students to cheat? Is that what serious chess has become?
Anyone with the latest Android app: repeat this test please.
Unless you have changed the default settings, you will see Blunders (Mistakes) called out, Hanging pieces highlighted, a variety of Best Moves with arrows shown, and the CPU evaluating the position to an endless depth in the background.
Why & How anyone thought this was a good idea . . . . ???? I would really like to know.
I just tried what you asked and before starting the game there were several settings clearly visible, that one could deselect (show best moves--show blunders--analysis mode etc.)
I tried deselecting all of those and played a game against a friend (in the same room) and we handed my android device to each other when it was our move.
To be fair to chess.com, it was a decent experience.
Whether those should be the default settings is dubious, but I think this issue is being over stated.
Hey members of Chess.com!
First off, as a member of the QA team, I want to thank every one of you that has helped to contribute towards the betterment of V3/V4, the next version of Chess.com. V4's intention is to speed up and modernize the online chess-playing experience in a new tech platform which allows us to continue making Chess.com a fun chess community for all types of chess players! It's thanks to the community many of the bugs such as the 32bit games-bug have been found, diagnosed, and updated in the codebase.
Secondly, Chess.com V3 is being entirely rewritten into Vue.js, one of the most light-weight Javascript frameworks. Since Javascript has sometimes a negative effect on load time, it is thanks to Vue.js that the previous bulky and slow Javascript pages and features are now becoming much smaller and much faster on a variety of machines. Pages such as home have been entirely rewritten, and future rewrites are in progress for live, navigation, and the entire layout. This rewrite comes with a variety of improvements and a new name => V4. Classic mode will also remain for now. Please bear with us as we work to [quickly] optimize and improve.
We are constantly working to improve our site for all members and players from around the world on a variety of devices, old and new. That being said, we want you to continue reporting bugs and making suggestions. From here on, we've decided to make a dedicated Chess.com Classic (V2) club to discuss ways of improving V3/V4 and making Chess.com even better. You can join it here: https://www.chess.com/club/chess-com-v2 and we would love if you continued to have discussions such as these over there.
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. We look forward to any further ones you have

It's just plain careless to think numerous users here wouldn't be tempted to try it out with how easy it is to access.
The negligence shown in the App development here is astounding.
Don't cheat!!, but we're going to give every one of you access to a convenient engine and more now.
