Earlier in this thread a comparison was made to the "new Coke" and how nobody liked it. Who's old enough to remember the introduction of seat belts? Yeh your right, seat belts are just crap. Its gonna add to the cost.
Express if you like or do not like the new version of the site

That's different, despising seat belts is just insane. Laws of physics were the same then as they are today.

why not mention the game board of Monopoly...it has been around for ages...the symbols have not changed...the design has not changed...the rules have not changed...and yet it is still one of the most popular games around...V2 does not need to change and it will still be one of the most successfull chess sites on the internet...

Pulp; That's the whole point of this thread. It took YEARS to convince people to use seats belts because the're good. Erik is doing the same, convincing MORE people that V3 is better than V2. Same senario. After the space shuttle Columbia exploded, it took a while to convince people that the next mission would be safe. Nobody wanted to cross the Atlantic after the Titanic went down either, or the Hindenberg. (edit) I think you just mis-understood my irony in the last line of post 2949. I was just making fun of the people who REFUSE to change.

@ GeneralChang Merry Christmas my friend
I see your screenshot of V3 have you tried using (ctrl) + on your keyboard to zoom in. It should make the board larger like in V2 ??

Day Thirty. Really? Has it been that long?
Anyway... I agree on some points. V3 takes longer to load each page. And today I noticed that even when I 'finger' the list of current games on my Home Page... there is a fraction of a second where the game board image re-sizes just a smidgen. What's up with that?

Ya, the RIGHT way is left menu!
Brilliant design! Simply brilliant! Take your bows designers, greatness beckons, Redmond will call for you to contribute incisively to Windows 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay.

Really? You have sceenshot of that in one of your posts?
I know you have posted your resolution and I seem to recall the apect ratio is a bit different and will play into that but there should be some size difference.

Didn't say it was the right way but there obviously was a design decision to have the whole board show on screen and not to introduce scrolling when on a game, unlike the v2 method, where the board isn't dynamic.

I agree with GeneralChang.
The format/lay out on V2 is simply better.
The format/lay out on V3 looks more suited to kids.
Which confuses me because I thought that is why they created the Chess kids site.
If you don't believe me, You can log into both of them and look for yourself.
Even the medals look like kid stickers in V3 lol.
They dont even look like medals.
They look like the little Shiny Gold Star Stickers you got from kindergarten by the teacher!
@Spacebux: Your description pretty much mirrors mine own. The most straightforward way of handling the problem is to have a player rating system similar to Amazon's (in this case only positive ratings county) as well as computer monitored ratings of players e.g. the number of disconnevts and reconnects in a game when a player is in a losing our when position. Those with higher ratings are matched and those with lower ratings are matched. Thus the quality of play of play will improve. Lacking this, other improvements can be made but apparently it's not a priority for Chess.com. Hence the unfair chases out the fair. I'd pay to subscribe if I was presented with higher quality play. As it stands, I couldn't imagine what would induce me to subscribe. I am considering subscribing to the other site I mentioned since I do want to fair play.

Go through #2582 [page 130] where I've explained not one, but 15 reasons why V3 is better than V2.
Saying that there is no evidence for that claim is a little outrageous. Here are some reasons why V3 is better than V2.
1. Variants like Bughouse, Crazyhouse, 3 check, King of the hill, Live 960 introduced to live chess.
I just want to play chess…
2. Ability to import and analyze any game played outside of Chess.com
I’ll grant you this, but I already have my own analysis method…
3. Ability to do a quick blunder check of your games in Live chess.
I already have my own analysis method…
4. Club tournaments in Live chess.
Can do this in v2…
5. Notifications can now be easily read and discarded by clicking on the (x) next to them, this was a pain in V2.
I don’t believe they are at all easier read, in fact, there are more clicks in v3 (versus v2) to read notifications…
6. Unlimited access to your games, this was restricted to only premium members in V2.
This is a temporary courtesy, will no doubt cease when v3 is fully rolled out…
7. Unlimited access to your statistics, this was again restricted to paid members in V2.
Again, a temporary courtesy, will no doubt cease when v3 is fully rolled out…
8. Real time computer analysis - Stockfish shows you the best lines from a position, you can choose the number of lines shown by the engine.
I already have my own analysis method…
9. Live chess is quicker and smoother, this is a very big improvement. Piece movement in V2 was very clunky.
In the few attempts I’ve dared, I do not see any speed improvement…
10. Guess the move feature while observing top games.
Yeah, I found that fun…
11. Theme selection in Tactics Trainer which allows you to choose tactical themes and train exclusively on puzzles that feature them. You can even focus solely on puzzles you failed in the past.
I just want to play chess…
12. Support for over 50 languages.
Not mine, Lallans…
13. Vision Trainer.
No idea what this is. V3 gives off visual problems, I doubt this will help me…
14. Better way to customize your profile page by adding your own backgrounds. In V2 you had to create your own theme and the process was very tedious.
Disagree, I cannot recreate my existing page in v3…
15. Ability to embed videos at ease.
Used to be in v2 until someone broke it…

Both were same res, let the big boys handle this V3 man. I am working with real staff, go back to chanting how great V3 is in your safe spot. No wonder you no longer have an icon by your name.
I don't have the pawn by choice.
But what I'm saying is that you have a monitor resolution that is causing part of the issue due to the dynamic board sizing and the attempt to keep the whole board on screen.
But go ahead and belittle me all you want. v2 can't go away soon enough

@gambit-man, I'm pretty sure your comments about "temporary courtesy" are incorrect. v3 is keeping those changes and they have been there for most of the beta.
Also, unless something changed very recently, nimzomalaysian's comment on club tourneys was about Live tourneys and they can only be set up and played in v3.
- @gambit-man: Your situation mirrors my own. i use AnalyzeThis and Chessbase to analyze games and am only looking for consistent quality games with people I enjoy playing. For this, I would subscribe. Just like on Amazon.com, I frequent those that have built up trust over a long period of time. I am amazed that no Chess site has implemented such a feature. That is exactly how I find players when playing OTB.

only time will tell if it is a courtesy or not, but i don't believe it will extend much beyond the v2 shut down. There are already premium members who are unhappy at something they are paying for is given away free now to non fee-paying members.
as for club tourneys, it's quite possible to setup in v2, simply by making it by invitation only (and sending out the appropriate invites)
I put down my AK to hurl my own poop at these whiny babies.
Is this a chess site?
