Coolshot, are you nuts? This site has so many problems. The daily puzzle still (I have complained about this in the past) jumps from the learn tab to the share tab. When I try to access my current games, I get a screen showing a board with all the pieces huddled in the middle of the board, before I actually get to see the real board. V3 is NOT an improvement over V2 in any way.
Express if you like or do not like the new version of the site
Look Guys, I don't disagree with you that you do have problems with what the site offers. It's simply that I don't.
Commiserations won't help and I hope the management can address your individual concerns . I know you have raised detailed concerns that frustrate when changes don't resolve issues and your sincerity is palpable ., Over time I've been able to tick off those gripes of mine as I personally experienced welcomed changes.
It's true that V2 was never broken and so didn't need repair .
But the attempt to tart- up the site to enable more site-competitive features , not all of which were necessary to simply play chess , did lead to derivative unexpected consequences . I hope that more members eventually get satisfaction and don't feel they have to abscond I play on a few pay-for sites that offer differing features but I'm currently satisfied with chess.com's V3 . Best of luck to you all.

Coolshot, are you nuts?
Course he is... that's why nobody pays attention to his posts any more... we're still waiting for his list of "palpably obvious improvements"...
Following Spacebux's posts this morning, i just feel relieved that i resisted staff advice to try the app...
The "timorous mousies" are always fellow-travelers on the shirt-tails of false , rhetoric-ridden pontificaters who could review the site improvements themselves , unless they are indolents , averse to work . Satisfied V3'ers have largely abandoned this forum to the abrasives who appear to be disappearing into their own self interests ....reiterative discontents that no one can take seriously . Have an instructive , contributory self-analysis to glean the truth. and perhaps then this forum will have relevance. I now solely visit V3 on chess.com for chess information and play....a very satisfying experience and recommend the site to discriminating surfers .

Glad to see that that the palpable improvements have reached you up there, coolshot. I can only hope that they can percolate down to NSW soon.
Good luck in Origin come Wednesday. Slater might help.

Anyone with the latest Android app: repeat this test please.
- Set your v3 App to play Human v. Human in the "Play Computer" screen.
- Play a game.
Unless you have changed the default settings, you will see Blunders (Mistakes) called out, Hanging pieces highlighted, a variety of Best Moves with arrows shown, and the CPU evaluating the position to an endless depth in the background.
Why & How anyone thought this was a good idea . . . . ???? I would really like to know.
- Anyone can simply whip out the App while playing on a separate browser now. Even if one finds out how to turn off 'Analysis Mode', all those other items are still 'Highlighted'. "Hanging Pieces" being shown is problematic enough.
- Did someone think this is how new players would learn how to play chess? If so, someone on STAFF, please explain this rationale. Did you learn Trigonometry or Physics by your teachers giving you the answers as you took a test? Is this what our education system has degraded to these days?
- For those like me that used to use this setting in the App to play over move-by-move a classic game between two GMs, the settings make such an effort futile. There is so much 'junk' on the screen and the 'analysis' engine running in the background, one cannot focus on the position, make a few moves, rewind, try another line, ... without the heavy hands of the CPU-Assistant re-evaluating each move, and the Highlighters and Arrows coming on. Each. And. Every. Time.
Like I said, it took me 2 days to figure out how to turn the thing off..!!
I suppose there's a YouTube video for it.

Thank you for all of that Spacebux. So, in essence, Chess.com promotes cheating via engine use. Furthermore, foolshot, idiotwithgun and other minor annoyances appear to live in Erik's pocket and are incapable of thinking for themselves.
Out of respect for the teams I play for, I will complete my current games and then I'm gone. I'm thouroughly disgusted. Chess.com has hit a new low. Just when I thought they couldn't get any worse. Tragic.

It appears they are aiming for the World's Deepest Well.
As with v3's inception, they are continuing on the course of More Bells, Whistles, and Flashing Bright Lights. The whole concept of playing chess was tossed with last week's trash.
Logic has left the Building.

Try playing a game as a free member. Literally, covering 1/4 of the screen from top to bottom is a rapid, multi-colored flashing add banner. After every game ends a membership sign-up page appears. I constantly get directed to this membership page instead of the intended click. At any given time, there is a minimum of 5 banners with adds, many of which match my google searches.
The "Logic" is simple to figure out. It is rude, abusive and insulting. I've had it. Enjoying playing elsewhere.

Erik - if you're still reading all this, please explain the rationale behind the development Road Map for chess.com.
I would really like to hear it.
Last year, Danny Rensch - VP of Content & Professional Relations - basically tipped the hand of what the Chess.com Higher Ups think of themselves and what they are doing for chess around the world with this interview at the Sinquefield Cup 2016.
He "manages the content" and their "growth" in the community. (source - https://youtu.be/z9TyQK2J2Q0?t=3h56m7s)
I.e., get more people in on chess.com. Chess enthusiast or not, they want chess.com to be as commonplace as possible. Danny's writing content, upping chess.com's SEO* points.
(for those that don't know, "SEO" equates to Search Engine Optimization. In order to get your web site to the top of a person's given search terms in Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, or whatever engine you use to browse the internet, web site creators are forever attempting to tweak their websites to bump UP their ranking in those search engine 'Results'. By constantly using the newest User Inerfaces (such as v3 users), creating new content (web sites that constantly update are ranked higher than older, out-dated websites), and getting high traffic counts, one can get the SEO-ratings up to the top. By increasing one's SEO rating, one engenders better / more Ad-revenue---$$$.)
I believe ⇡⇡this⇡⇡ is the whole motivation for everything you see spinning around the site. Someone higher up is just sweet-talking Erik into making poor choices for the longevity of the site as a place to play chess.

Exactly coolshot. Anyone with proper hardware and software, like you and me, have absolutely no problems with V3. Thus, we see the same complainer's posts here, over and over, yet no flood of the 10's of thousands of happy, satisfied users.

i note that coolshot had to update his hardware (to a standard well below my own) before enjoying v3...

Never going to respond to my issues about content, are you, MWG? I guess you're happy to know that every Chess.com App user has a free CPU Assistant in the palms of their hands.

I check profiles of opponents to see the types of abuse members recieve and to report the more aggregious examples...at any rate, I just checked one and discovered a new one:
Site Bot Cheat. Yep, it's already out there in the ether; chess.com is going to be known as the site that sanctions it's own bot to cheat.
Site bot cheaters: Users who use the site's own engine to cheat in live play.
Chess.com, home of the site bot cheaters.
Nice claim to fame.
In a few days, I'll no longer play live chess here. Once I do that I will wind down my admin positions and then that's it.
This is patently, so obviously an insult to chess players, that to continue here would be to demean oneself and ones belief in the game.
Shame. Shame on you chess.com.

I thought bot's were used by a site to catch cheaters. To "catch a thief, you have to become one". I think "Site bot cheat" is entirely a misnomer. The abusers of fair play are simply using any number of programs available by many sources. Chess.com certainly has the means to detect open programs during live play if they so choose.
To make a program available during live play is stupidity. In correspondence it's viewed as OK as open books can be referenced.
My complaints have nothing to do with 'equipment', coolshot..
I cannot fathom why anyone would, by default, have the CPU-Assistant, the Highlight-Assistant, and the Threat-Highlighter all turned ON in the App for the site.
If you're designing an App for any given chess user, perhaps DON'T start with assuming the Lowest Common Demoninator for your User (i.e., complete Chess Zero)---which is precisely what Chess.com has done with its App. The App designers presumed first-time-chess-playing idiots would be accessing the application. I think Chesskid.com users get more respect from the site's designers.
Is the chess.com app for playing chess or for teaching complete novices how to play? Erik, you and your design team have once again MISSED the target with this App... which is akin to the whole design debacle with v3. Sorry if I sound disgruntled, but I'm still in shock at the moment.
BTW - fwiw, the APP itself still has the original bug I reported MONTHS ago now, where illegal positions are permitted to be played. I just ran across it again tonight. Great job code team. Great job.
