v3 is good for the analysis board staying in the same page now, thank you erik and staff
Express if you like or do not like the new version of the site

lol
we had a comment from Petter_U about this issue
Peter wrote: "I don't like it. I find the simplistic style of the old site better than the futuristic "app like" V3. The old site has white background and simple graphics rather than attempting to look "fresh" with a fake 3D look.
Also, when playing, I don't like the new buttons. I prefer buttons with text, such as "post comment" or "submit move" rather than symbols. I also don't like the new layout in-game where the "analysis" and "conditional moves" are modes of the same window rather than opening in new tabs/windows. It makes me feel unsure whether I'm actually about to make a move or just doing it on the analysis board."

Testing the home page load time over 10 iterations.
Average load time (V3) = 3.926 seconds
Average load time (V2) = 1.386 seconds
So clearly, V3 is at least 2 times slower than V2.

The chess.com app does not work now on the new version. Is there anyway to change it back to the old version?

It will be a good site once all the tweeking is done, and they get rid of that awful black background.

I registered in chess.com 3 years ago because I loved to play chess.
Then I started to learn the site and it was a very interesting experience, I had my own homepage like a sheet of clean whitepaper with everything written on it and all the options were up there on the navigation bar with a nice green color, it was so inviting, I started to explore the site, everything was so clear, it was like a chessbook on-line and even more! I could find and learn everything so quickly, the game explorer had a very useful table of related openings where i could learn fast and easy, there were no mysterious icons only accurate titles(analysis, game explorer, conditional moves, submit move, resign, submit comment, vacation time, edit, quote, chat) etc. I was sure about anything and everything was so clear. No mistakes, no waste of time, I didn't have to smell my fingers or chew rosemary leaves in order to guess the hidden meaning of any icons, everything was in front of my eyes, presenting to me by itself and i liked that so much.
I realised the on-line chessbook was easy to read and I could learn to play better chess there. I started to love the new intruiging chess experience. Next days I bought 2 chessbooks and my love for chess was growing all the time, I started to examine the option of paying for a membership
Very soon I discovered that I could change colors in the letters, on the bar, to the links, everywhere, even to create my very own theme, I was enthusiastic with the creative abilities I found and it was so fast, everything could be done almost immediately, so I started to create, I bloomed, i created forums, I created teams, I created tournaments, all because of the easy, inviting and very fast V2. Also the staff were very kind people, I still remember Kohai, the best of them.
Lately I find myself in a situation that we have stopped talking about chess anymore and we talk about V3 instead, my chesshome in V2 has been destroyed - my themes are bugged disabled, people are angry, they don't care so much for chess anymore, the peacefull atmosphere and chess talk has becomed a war between V2 and V3 , no more relaxing chess, only a constant threat that from day to day V2 will neverever existed, my creativity tends to zero and the people of the staff are rude and inadequate to understand the problem. The owner listens only to his master's voice and ignores the people who merely ask only to have what they already had and were paying for. I'm not going to continue in this unhappy atmosphere no more, Ι will continue in V2 as long as it takes, but since I'm not feeling quite comfortable already with this inconvenience caused by the site, I don't know for how long I will keep on playing chess. The love of the game is leaving me together with my creativity with all this on-going conflict about such a matter. There was no need for all this damage.

With so many negative comments about the new format will anyone do anything about it? I hope so but I'm not holding my breath. If it doesn't go back to normal soon I'm gone

I hate it !! I have no flag ( for resign) when i play in 3 minutes and the chess board is too big on the screen . I can 't play with the new version. Sometimes I can get back to the old one but not all the time

You can change your theme in your settings to get rid of that background.

What browser are you using? Do you also not see the draw option?
As to the board, you should be able to resize by hovering your cursor over the upper-right of the board, click-hold the resize icon, and drag it to the left to make it smaller.

Staff has been reading these. If people are giving specific issues they see, then something might be done. If it is just generalized dislike, then there is much that can be done about that.
People can continue to use v2 until it is retired but eventually, v3 will be the only site and additional work can be done to improve it, things that can't be done while v2 is still active.

I also do not like so hope staff are reading this.
Everything is hard to find and hidden behind something else which isn't logical.
When i'm watching the live blitz games its hard to see who's ahead. In v2 there was simple scoring system shown. In v3 there are pieces which you have to count but I can't see the black pieces against a black background!
That's just one of many gripes.

On my home page are several videos that I would like to watch. But when I try it says I have to sign up as a member but I am already a premium member!?

Thanks Martin, didn't know that.
Something wrong with explore:
According to Explore we should all play 1 Na3 as that shows no losses. When I go into a game after 1 Na3 Nf6 2 Nb1 it shows me a game where Na3 and Nb1 were never played! oops

Some database software trees have problems with transpositions, not just here. I believe erik made a recent post about trying to improve Explorer in that regard. The same result probably exists in v2.
Having to leave Yahoo Chess when they "improved it",it looks like i, and many thousand others, will have to leave Chess.Com if they go through "improving it to version 3" it may be a little better for non english speakers, but for us used to seeing the english words in the old system, it is an abortion looking at this new CRAP
I just realized why people don't like V3. It's because it makes them feel uneasy to see everything on floating tiles without a firm base like in V2. It really looks like a bunch of white tiles floating on a dark background. I know it's a very small and subtle thing but it makes a lot of people uneasy subconsiously and they come out and say they don't like the interface, when asked for specifics they don't know what to say.
I haven't seen any major site that had a succesful run use this kind of interface - Google, Facebook, Linkedin you name it. Windows 8 tried it and it was rejected pretty badly by the consumers.
Something to think about, but I'm sure they can't do anything about it because they've already spent too much time and effort on this.
You may be on to something.
