maybe a.r.b can find a system and beat it...
Great game similar to chess, better than Arimaa

Looks like another fairy chess variant to me. I've tried many of them and I still think Omega chess takes the cake. And arimaa can't be compared because it's unique.
Hero:
Fearless warrior in the King's service. His fighting skills are supernatural. No one of the common mortals can train at such a high level.
Move & Take:
King:
Supreme leader of your people. His death means definitely defeat of the war as same as when he lost all his people. When he captures the center with his soldiers, that overcome the enemy in numbers, he becames the ruler of all land.
Move:
Take:
Now it's becoming too complicated.
Really? I was feared, that this changes won't be accepted. What is bad in your eyes?

I want to help you ...
How does the game look like, before the very first move? It would make the rules about all your new pieces less confusing.
Start of the Game:
Back rows are totally random. Actually, everything is bigger, like in previous posts.

I will have to log off now for a while, but you asked: What is bad in your eyes?
here are some of my opinions:
-the pieces look too blurry and not very elegant ... I don't like that particular style, and real Chess pieces look very distinct and are simple to draw
-the catapult is stupid
-the board is too large, people will get bored when they shuffle their pieces for 10 minutes and nothing has really happened yet ...
-I don't like that in each new game, the army is set up at random places. But I'm not a great fan of Chess 960 either ...
just my 2 cents!

It's a very nice game with a good idea, but most of the moves and takes are very complicated to learn for each piece. After playing for a bit, you can start to figure out how they move, but it takes awhile.
The board is really big, and I can't tell if it's a good or bad thing.
And I agree with above posts, there needs to be a set back rank.
Thank you for opinions. I understand all of it and i want to ensure you, that it may make that feeling from the screenshots, but in real game, it is different.
1) "Board is too large."
Board is large, but pieces' range is also large. And it is exactly the idea of this game. Large, constantly range of pieces on large board. In result, board size is optional and you also feel in real game, that it is optional. This large range on corresponding board implies countless number of combinations, but because everything is clear and game very well balanced, you are master in this game via your instinkt.
2) "Moves are complicated"
On the first view, it is. But this moves are natural and you will notice it after time and they will be very easy to thinking. I am in this point, i know how to thinking with these moves and it is simple and not tiring. And the most important think for beginners, possibble moves are highlighted as i will post in screenshots.
3) "Game is boring at the start"
Again, it is not true. Because of every piece is "long leaper", you will find, that every move is valuable and can solve something, there is not situation, where you "must go forward" with pawn or knight several time to only make them released without any further idea. So, game is active from the first move as i will post in screenshots
4) "back rank need to be fixed"
It is not need for anyone, the random position fans, as same as fixed positions fans. Because you are planning differently in this game than in chess. Random position multiplicates variation. You will not benefit from Fixed position at all.
Let's see the screenshots. It is game after about 10 moves and there is action already. Look, how mobile are all pieces.
You must try it to definitely know, if it is better for you than Arimaa. Link to updated file with Warcraft Graphics http://www68.zippyshare.com/v/77545447/file.html
If it doesn't work for someone, type me. But it should work.

tactically and strategically i think this game would be very very harder.
What do you think are some good strategic and tactical ideas in the game
Also, what will you call the game?
It is much non explored area. But i think moving elegantly with your pieces will reward a lot. Rather than imagine lots of moves forward, just looking, how effective is your overall structure of your pieces. And good moves, strong moves, free pieces, will reveal themselves. I believe, it is a skill, that can be trained.
I have not decided yet about game name. It is hard with abstract game.
