Now is happened a strange thing;
I was in a winning position against "Kiarotta" user, then my opponents was disconnected for all the 60 seconds....but instead of my win, started MY COUNTDOWN of disconnected signal!!!
But, internet was perfect, the signal was strong, and internet worked during the countdown.!!!..i tried to open facebook, and all was ok! I came back to the game and the countdown was there, and i lost the game?!?
What the hell happened?
Chess.com had BIG problems for the connections, big big, problems.....
I think that chess.com is not good for mobile internet.
I live in italy, Roma, the capital....with a stronger 4G signal everywhere, the problems are in chess.com, not in the signal.
The ability to connect to other sites doesn't mean anything. The path the app traffic takes to the chess.com servers only shares small part of the path with other websites/processes. Any part of that path can cause connection issues as can other traffic on your wifi/cellular data connection.
I won't say that the app/client connection and reconnection code shouldn't be more robust or the timeout isn't too short but the site can't control every hop of the network.
As to your last point, disconnections when winning are perception bias. You don't really notice when you are losing because you are already losing and it doesn't have the same impact and you are much less likely to notice.
This is why i only play correspondance chess here. Also, trying to play chess on a phone has never made much sense to me.
