don't think abt your rating, think about chess only. ratings won't do any good in here.challenge opponents higher than you in ratings,do as many puzzles, read books if you got tym and want to be serious with it
Is a 1581 rating good ?

Remember, you do not have a real, over the board rating. That is the best judge of someone's strength. Second, your 1581 online rating was only after 4 games. So that's likely not your true strength either.
A rating of 1581 OTB is good if you are just starting out at chess (within one year of learning). It took me a whole year myself.

He is probably looking for some relative idea of where he fits in the big scheme.
At 1580 you would probably be the best player at your High School. There are High School players who are much much stronger but not very many and not all schools would have one. A typical medium sized city would have maybe one expert, 3 or 4 1800/2000 players and a dozen or so 1600/1700 players at High School age.
Work at it and you may be able to really do something. Good Luck!

Yes, but that question doesn´t have that much sense if he only has played 6 online chess games.
1581. hummmmm A lot depends on if you are talking about OTB, in which case a 1581 is quite respectable -- high Class "C" --; OTOH if you are talking about Online Chess, a 1581 is highly variable, dpending what online service you are talking about ie chess.com, chesscircle.com, etc. etc, etc. If you are using only one online service they generally have a breakdown of all the players rating. Generally, Online ratings tend to be inflated compared to say a USCF OTB rating which may vari by as much as 100 pts. The more you play however the more consistent your rating is likely to be. Without knowing much about you, I'd guess your true rating is between 1475 - 1600. If you have an official OTB rating, use that as your "official" rating andd compare that to your online rating.

1581 is terrible no offense. I cant respect a class that makes such blunders. Im 1571 at the moment after 6 months of chess playing and to my surprise not a single 1600-1700 has beaten me any time recent. The world open is maybe the only time i would say i been put to the spot losing to 1300-1400's but i have a list of reasons for what i done wrong in those games. When i lost to a 1300, i was bawling crying cause i felt guilty about all the money my parents spent
haha you are right
