Is Abuse Allowed?

I've played quite a few games here and love the site (forum, gameplay etc) and I've never had issues in the chat. 90% of the time nobody talks, but occasionally we talk about specific moves.

Today though, this one guy was calling me all sorts of stuff. Now, in real life if he did this he'd get a swift left hook but as it's online I'm kinda frustrated and feel like it shouldn't happen. This isn't Call of Duty on the xbox 360, it's Chess. 10x more fun, 100x more civilised. I've attached screenshots. Also, the guy beat me, I don't know why he was so stressed. If an admin can stop people like this joining or do something about this it would be great.

Sorry you came across the occasional abuser. We have closed this account now. Next time (which hopefully won't happen), instead of posting such content on the forums, please submit a report ticket using the Help & Support link below every chess.com page (click on "contact support" on the left of that page). You can also disable chat and block the person.

Thank you.]

I would hope that chess.com gets him out of here immediately. Not acceptable.

Was this a post to purely to get attention? The title itself is condesending, and now I hate you.

Is child abuse allowed?

Is kicking an old lady in the face allowed?

Is throwing a bowling ball into a car window allowed?

Dont ask stupid questions, just disable chat and stop whining. Now everyone hates you, happy?

A website is a website, open to all comers.  So of course abuse must be allowed, at least, the first instance.

Interesting concept.  You mean, sorta like having a security guard at the door who looks you over, checks your pockets, does a background check, maybe a credit check for good measure?

Not seeing this happening anytime soon.  For now we take our chances, the next new member may be even worse.

Yeah I kinda phrased that wrong. I don't mean joining, more getting rid of and IP blocking so they can't re-join

Lol. Hey everybody, look at this internet tough guy. You seriously need to calm down before you give yourself a heart attack. Even some of your Reddit posts are over the top.

And yes, I know abuse is not allowed and I phrased it like that on purpose to draw attention to this thread and the abusive member. I'm in marketing, it's what I do. Nobody hates me (apart from you) for voicing my opinion, and even if they did I seriously don't care.

What's with all the hostile people on the site? I just had a guy say "f*ck you" to me because I was taking time on my move. I don't understand. It's chess!

Hey!  One instance (ok, maybe a bunch of instances) out of "4 million members" (yeah, right! pull my other leg).

Roll with the punches, ignore, disable chat or block.

Yes, you may abuse your mouse to your heart's content when you blunder.
