If the ads annoy you, buy a membership or don't play here. As for rude behavior, this is the only chess site I have used that actually does something about it. It is the nature of some people to behave poorly when annonymous. That is not the site's fault. It is my opinion that chess.com is very responsive to users and tries constantly to improve the site. You complain about something you can change and do not (ads) and seem unwilling to help the site eliminate rude persons by reporting them to staff in the proper manner. If you view chess.com as a community and help improve it by contributing a membership fee and using the staff to deal with inappropriate behavior, you just may find this a great place to enjoy playing chess.
Is it worth it to play here ?

Chess.com has some reliance on ad revenue, and I haven't said otherwise if you care to read my posts more carefully.
They don't depend on a few malcontent free members for much revenue though

That makes no sense.
How about a translation of:
A few that would make those other ad clicks about $10,0000 a click
though?

You make some impression! What a winner!

I have been trying out the site for the last week. For some of you this evidently will mean my comments are worthless, however if you think about this for a few seconds you might realise why this is wrong.
I am not sure whether to continue playing here either, there are a few problems. Naturally people tend to voice complaints rather than satisfaction, that's just human nature, this is obviously a good site that people work hard to maintain, but my feeling is that it has the potential to be a lot better. Surely the purpose of feedback threads like this is to try to get these improvements to happen, and so this thread is far from 'Off Topic' imo.
Firstly, the lag is a major issue and the main one that I'm having problems with. Lately it glitches practically every move, and I play 4min at fastest, I have no idea how the bullet players deal with it.
There are several board improvements that could be made as well. To give some examples, I play on another site where you can easily flip the board at any time, you can copy PGN at any stage by right-clicking on the move list, instead of having to go through the unnecessarily cumbersome process of having them emailed after the game, and clicking back to earlier moves during a game is much smoother. There is also no lag, maybe this is because you have to download a java client, could be an option to be considered here.
I really don't like the 60-second chat rule. I understand the reasons for it but 60 seconds is far too long. Certain poker sites use software that can detect profanity and spamming (repeated posts) and automatically issue chat bans so this could reduce the need for this rule. It doesn't really achieve anything except to cause annoyance and hamper discussion, no-one is going to buy premium for this anyway.
I would love to be able to come here and chat about, say, next week's London Chess Classic while the games are in progress, but this is not feasible with this rule.
Yes, I am a free member. I believe the best things on the internet are free and as others have said, the way to get value out of us is with ads - I have no problem with these.
erik has said what his per/click revenue is.
What does "A few that would make those other ad clicks about $10,0000 a click" really mean though?
We just have to guess; it's not quite intelligible.
