Make game chat screen smaller in Android app

Hello! I recently moved over to android from windows phone, and while I love the Chess.com app, when I play games the screen that shows chat and the game's move history takes up half the screen, leaving only half the screen for the actual chess board. Even on my S9+ in landscape mode, this is annoying and makes the app difficult to use since I have fat fingers which is why I got the large phone in the first place.
Here's what I see on mine. And the "full screen" setting seems to do nothing.
Is this already solved? The same happens on my s9 tablet... Not the experience I would like
