people stalling games

hi, I am currently in a 99 minute long game with this guy. I wont mention his name because i think its against site rules to name people here, we were about 30 minutes into the game when i took his queen and then he decides to just let the time run out and make me wait. Does anyone know how i can end the game without loosing any of my points??? And does anyone know how i can report this member for misconduct on the site? Any tips or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you play a 99 minute game, then you are committing the next 198 minutes of your life to that game. Wait and receive the win.

I never really understood why people do this - are they trying to get revenge on you for being better than them, by making you wait for the clock to run out? Or maybe it's in the hopes that you'll get bored and resign and they'll get the points.

It just seems childish tbh.

You would be there for 99 minutes anyway, so how are they making you wait?

it kind of says in the op. He wanted to play chess for 99 minutes, not sit around staring at the screen for 99 minutes

i am 4 or 5 moves away from checkmate and he has no pieces left to win. I dont mind loosing the  points to someone who deserves them but not to someone who will do this. i have been waiting now for about half an hour and there is still 27 minuites left on the clock. It is unfair and childish to make me wait this long. I have heard fom other people since that he does this a lot. I think that the site needs to know about this user wasting vast quantities of peoples time. Is there a way of reporting him???

Do your nails. Read a book. Surf the web. Make prank phone calls. The possibilities are endless.

Yeah best thing to do is go do something else (but keep an eye on the game in case he moves!), that way he'll have wasted 99 minutes and won't even have gained any points from it

Ya thanks im gonna do that. :) I have waited him out at this point i think as he has only 12 mins left. I have left a not on his profile warning people about this and i have emailed the site about him and told him that in chat so i dont think there is anything more i can do. Not i just have to hope  that the site takes action against him and hopefully comes up with a solution to this problem. Posting this thread helped to kill some time too so id like to thank you for helping me out and have given me something to do for the last half hour while i wait hahaha iii|:¬)

On another chess server I have frequently encountered players who seemingly let their clocks run out in a losing position, but then after a couple of minutes, when they think you have gone away to do something else, they come back and make a move, in the hope that you won't notice and your time will run out.

When I was in a playful mood I would then sometimes let my time run down to the last minute or so, before making my next move, giving them the false hope that they would actually succeed with their cheap tricks. More fun than the actual games really!

You will all be happy to know that he resigned with 12 minutes left on the clock. :)

I read the first sentence of the OP's thread and thought to myself as I read 99 minute game... "What did you expect? With all that time, could easily make some cheesy toast and then think about your next move after consuming it".

No one said he ad to stare at the screen for 99 minutes...read a book..make a sandwich...go to the bathroom..wrtite a poem...all kinds of things to do.

We have discused this before but now in these World Cup times I will try again. Lets say you went to see USA agains Germany. You had prepared and you were looking forward to it becaus watching football was somthing you enjoyed.

Now after 20 minutes the German players just all packed up their things and left. One would assume that the reff would cansel the match and call the USA winners right? But no, instead he informs the players that they will all have stand around the pitch untill full time and if they leave Germany will be called winners.If they wait the full 90 minutes the USA will be declared winners.

"But reff that does not make any sence" the players complain.

"Well you have all signed up for 90 minutes anyway right? Why dont you just read a book,,, make a sandwich... go to the bathroom.... write a poem.... all kinds of things to do" the refferee answers, "after all its not like you came her to play football anyway" 

first off, that is a whole other discusion.

second, what does that have to do with anything? The principal is stil true. Why are you so insistent on defending people who dont resign?

I have had many opponents pull this cheap trick in online games, waiting until the last few hours of the THIRD DAY to make a move in a hopelessly lost position. At least I didn't have to sit there staring at the board waiting for them, but it's incredibly childish.
